the title says it all.
Azshara was considered greater than a Pit Lord and almost if not on par with Kil’Jaeden / Archimonde during her time tapping into the Well of Eternity.
Aegwynn was a Guardian and was empowered by other Mages, Now during Legion the Mage goes through a similar empowerment but rather than them receiving the power it is the Weapon. Now granted the empowerment probably wasn’t as potent as the one Aegwynn received but let’s say they received 20% of the power Aegwynn did. During the Legion expansion is still took a raid (minimum of 10) of Heroes of equal strength to take out Kil’Jaeden and even if the Singular Mage was 20% of the strength of Aegwynn that would still make Aegwynn roughly half the strength of Kil’Jaeden.
so from that, Azshara at least would be twice the power of Aegwynn and thus greater…
But that was Azshara with the Well of Eternity, so Post Well of Eternity, Azshara is transformed into a naga and it is not stated that she gained any more power so it’s natural to believe she may actually be weaker due to not having the Well of Eternity to siphon power from and also N’zoth isn’t a power source equal to the Well, so it would be safe to say that
Well of Eternity Azshara >> Aegwynn
Aegwynn >>>>>> Naga Azshara
Well, depends on what would be your criteria. My view is based on some quotes, but I am not going to pretend that I am an expert that knows it all.
Aluneth (in Eye of Azshara):
Queen Azshara. Do not underestimate her grasp of the arcane, or the devotion of her minions.
The naga wield magics, yes, but without finesse. There was a time Azshara’s people had the potential to rival the titans.
[Xe’ra refers to strong-ish characters as “bright lights”]
Xe’ra (A Thousand Years of War):
Your world is filled with bright lights, but it is not ready.
The brightest light of all. That is what brought the Legion to you ten thousands years ago.
[there might be a reason why she is “light of lights”]
So, I guess that could give be a hint. During the boss fight she simultaneously fights us and the faction leaders (I am sceptical that faction leaders would be any stronger than the players if not for gameplay purposes, but that’s besides the point), deals with whatever was her ritual there, and at the same time the encounter itself is more or less a “stage play 2.0”.

I’m pretty sure that WotA quote said something like only Archimonde and Sargeras would prove superior when talking about how powerful Azshara is.
other than that, good analysis.
Azshara is described by Jaina, whom Aegwynn served as handmaiden, and by Lor’themar as the most powerful sorceress the world has ever known.
Also, while it is true that the Well of Eternity did provide a boost to Azshara, don’t forget she had 10 thousand years to adapt to this change. Also, she was transformed by the Naga and managed to control the Tidestone’s power while Jaina and Thalyssra had to team up to control it.
Not to mention she fought against the champions of Azeroth and the faction leaders WHILE using the arcane and the heart of Azeroth to BREAK a titan prison in a ritual.
In the dungeon journal, Azshara is described as one of the most powerful ENTITIES the world has ever known.
I believe Queen Azshara is stronger than Aegwynn with all past guardians’ powers. Without them, Aegwynn would be an insect to Azshara.
No idea. Power levels are kinda wonky and without Vegeta we have no idea of actually knowing. Wasn’t Norgannon on Azeroth at some point? I’d go with him.
Well, what does the scanner say about his power level?
As stated in-game and in novels, Azshara is the most powerful Mage ever!
what novel???
I don’t think she was ever stated as such in the books.
Aegwyn took down avatar of sargeras that is by no means a small feat, that avatar was probabbly around Kj levels of power.
Id say Azshara, she was the most powerful in her own right. Yes Aegwynn had the tirisfallen, but Azshara had the well of eternity to play with.
the fight between them kept the entire dragonflight at bay.
Alexstrasza was there as well so she was also most likely kept at bay.
didn’t he faign death to get access to Medivh?
I think its in the story, that she was sooo convinced she won, that she havent noticed what actually happened.
something like that.
the fight still kept the entire dragonflight and probably Alexstrasza at bay.

I think its in the story, that she was sooo convinced she won, that she havent noticed what actually happened.
I think they added that one part where he let her win. they also gave her super powerful sentient staff so it wasn’t just her, unfortunately.
Id say probably Azshara even before becoming a naga she was an extremely powerful highborne even catching sargeras eye.
It’s Khadgar and that’s a fact. His power and skills are just as great as his maths.
Which technically makes Azshara the most powerful.
