Affliction and Rapture And DoT damage

I know most people and Dev’s will probably never see this but why not try.

IMO Affliction needs some drastic changes to make it the spec its suppose to be again.
if Blizzard want us to use Malefic Rapture as our Main spender. i think we CAN make it work.

Here is an idea.

Make Malefic Rapture Cost more shards. make it act like a miniture [Rapid Contagion] and lower or remove its damage. Making it last shorter duration than Rapid Contagion obviously. but this will make it so Affliction get its DoT Damage back. and the idea will be to keep the Malefic Rapture buff as long as possible to make DoTs tick as hard as possible for longer.

This way you Make affliction become DoT based again. Make Malefic Rapture relevant.

With the look of the new Tree it seems like its mostly what we have now. which people highly dislike.

So to try and go back to the days that DoT damage actually mattered i think that is a good step in the right direction.

Also in addition to this. They can make it so other DoT’s besides Agony can stack, just like Agony does. Thus making it more about keeping your DoTs up at Maximum stacks as long as possible without the need to have So many buttons and So many buffs and DoTs having to be stuck playing a VERY tedious playstyle of lots of build up for very small window of actually doing damage, To turn into something more DoT based not having 15 active keys in our rotation. Not every spec should be NASA level. some can be more simple and its fine.

So if we make DoT’s stronger but have less of them also make it so they All ramp up to compensate so it won’t just be too strong off the bat. we can lower the DoT count to make sure it doesn’t get out of hand.
from what i saw from most Players who like Affliction Siphon life is highly disliked. To remove it and make it about Maintaining the few Dots we have properly instead of having tons of them would be a far more interesting and actually managable way to play.

Small rant :

Soul Rot is not a great ability to use.
the only reason its soo used is NOT because people enjoy using it. but because its so strong we can’t afford not to.
if not for the Soulbinds and the legendary spiking its powerlevel in combination i doubt anyone would actually prefer this Ability over something like Impending Catastrophe Which fits affliction MUCH design wise in AOE. But never gets used because its so weak in comparison to how powerful soulrot is with the combination mentioned above.

i Personally do not like Darkglare. Not every Warlock needs to summon a pet to do a job for them…some might be just on their own. having DSM being instead of Darkglare is something i’d prefer.

I love affliction. i want it to be good like everyone Who loves affliction and the Devs who are in charge of it do to.
but i think the direction that it took is the wrong one. the Spec fantasy of some plague lord Who puts diseases and slowly kills his enemies (reminds me of the Nurgle Faction from 40K)
is something thing we strayed from. and it became more about throw as many CD’s as you can into a darkglare that doesn’t feel fun to use. Feels extremely high maintenance and unrewarding. Yes it extends your DoTs. but i’d prefer to have DSM re-apply the DoT’s my self. but make every DoT count instead.

The rapid contagion idea is great! I also have a big problem with the class fantasy being lost to affliction as we arent really “afflicting” the enemy with anything.

I do like soul rot as one of the bigger dots, however i really do agree impending catasrophe is a much cooler ability that really fits affliction afflicting them with curses and a dot.

I made up a copy of Devouring Plague to replace Malefic rapture that maybe could work too, its also a dot to top it off which would be really cool!

Malefic Rapture revamp - Malefic rapture now applies a dot on the target dealing 500 * per effect on all targets with damage over time effects on them ticking over 4 seconds.

Reapplying malefic rapture refreshes the duration and adds the remaining damage to the new Malefic Rapture

That is basically deathbolt be used instead of MR. could work if it would apply in AOE to.

Yeah they seem to have removed Deathbolt so i think this would work well

Yeah i just hope we will become more DoT based again. and not what ever it is we have now…

That is UA BfA style, which is now better than in bfa for pvp.

Yeah but they seem to not want to get rid of Malefic Rapture so stacking UA’s is not something we do anymore. so we need to figure out a way how to incoroprate that since blizzard seem to not budge on this ability…

Because the PvP players complained about that UA stacking. UA was introduced as a dot protection for pvp. But the bfa version only lasted 8 seconds after that, easy dispel.

For pvp that version should be better than bfa version. But it’s it better than SL?

I can’t find the changes they did to Creeping Death? Except that it won’t reduce the time of the dots anymore. But what will it do instead?

Basically make DoTs tick 15% faster but without reduction its time from my understanding. which is pretty good DoT damage.

Oh that would be nice, if it could be combined with haunted soul or the new mr dmg increase would be nice.

Yeah its actually a good change for once for that talent. its been in a bad state for a long time. just making your DoT’s shorter over all damage reduction counter synergy with Rapture to. overall good change.
