I am a bit sad that Afflictions damage does not come from dots, I really feel distributing dots and keeping them up should be what affliction was all about.
Also making shards come from souldrain/SB would be much better than agony procs.
As a design I really like Agony, a stackable dot instead of lots of individual ones, I would love to see affliction have one dot and stacking that dot instead of lots of induvial ones that has no interesting effects, it feels like busy work keeping them up.
If we only had 1 or two, various ways to ramp them and them losing stacks over time, that would make us more unique and feel a lot more like curse weaving than just pressing loads of buttons to prevent individual dot falloffs.
I feel Malefic Rapture is an interesting concept, but not really in line with affliction concept. If it where to improve the damage/stacks of existing Dots instead, that would be much more in like with the affliction concept.
I agree dot damage can be buffed but a large chunk of our damage comes from corruption + agony + UA. Quite a few fights Affliction actually has a very nicely distributed dmg profile.
Also, Managing Dots = Affliction Warlock. I think alot can be done to improve Affli QOL, but reducing number of dots is not one of them. However, one could increase the duration of dots so they don´t have to be refreshed so often. I think that is the larger issue… having to refresh agony when you wanna spam seed or Malific rupture.
That is actually really interesting, a warlock variant that constantly lose shards, but has ways of building them.
You could combine that with a movement aspect, you can move while building but has to stand still to spend / use abilities that benefit from high shard count but don’t generate.
I wouldn’t mind if they just redesigned affliction completely, like they did combat rogue and survival hunter.
I would love to see them make a exorcist class out of it, put little paper hexes on targets and then manipulate those in various ways.
Like you have the Shadowpriest/Holypriest, you would have some warlocks who work to rid the world of demons and some who summons them for their power.
I think it would make a lot of thematic sense, and it would give Pandaren and Lightforged a strong ‘In’ on the warlock class.
One thing I do LOVE about affliction though is inevitable demise, slowly building those stacks and then actually getting a payoff when pressing the button is so satisfying.
