Affliction soul shard generation?

Recently started playing my Warlock again…
It dates back till vanilla, never got max level tough…
Both demonology and destruction are straightforward for me…
However there seems to be a depth behind affliction i. Can not lay my fingers on.
Seems to accumulate around generating soulshards

Can anyone explain to me how soulstone generation works in affliction?

When do i generate a soulstone?
How can i improve my generation?

shard generation is RNG based on agony ticks, there is some kind of system that increases your chances the longer you go without generating them

the only way to increase the chances is to have multiple targets which has some diminishing returns, or get more haste for faster ticks

thats it - but really, at 3 targets you will barely have time to hold your dots because you will have a lot of agony ticks - soul shards

I have no idea why people are saying its RNG; when thats litterally wrong. It has a proc rate depending on your haste levels. Which are extremely predictable when you get used to it, other than at times where you are indeed unlucky.

Using own lock for reference, with 1260 haste, and double CC traits, you’ll avg a shard every 7 secounds or just barely enough to keep CC running forever as long as it keeps procing.

My avg shard itming is 6 to 10 secounds, 6 to 8 being considered ‘‘normal’’ and the later unlucky. There isnt an RNG of ‘‘no shards for 30 sec’’ It has bad luck protection. The moment you have bad luck protection it really isnt RNG. As RNG is the same tick 1 as tick 200

i said its RNG because its literally RNG, as with anything random you can find a pattern and then there can be some level of predictability, but its still RNG

You just described why its RNG…
Anything that has an unpredictable factor to it is RNG…
