I used to be much more of a risk taker back in the days, and would challenge myself
I have since become more and more risk averse in many aspects in my life, which translated to wow as well
The moment i reach 2100 or so, i just lose all interest to challenge myself further, because i can not stomach the possibility of losing rating
How do i overcome this?
Its not about rating at this point. The problem is that i basically stop, and dont get to enjoy my class, cuz i dont want the pretty number to be ruined.
You shouldnât care about the number. Care about improving/learning and have the will to get better then the number will increase automatically.
Caring about the rating number will only dissapoint.
Alternatively you can create a second character of the same class or play another spec. So you can always âsaveâ your highest rating and play with the other one. As soon as you surpass or reach a goal with a char/spec, you swap again. I did that too in season 1
ur overall health and testo probably used to be higher.
that made u not shy away from conflict with possible negative outcomes.
nonetheless the 2 char strat is very nice psychologically.
u can just mindlessly q the lower one until u pass ur other toon and then switch. ull never lose ur peak rating.
This, I like to do that so I can try multiple build and play with different people without having to play with 2k cr people and lose cr by playing with another friend at 1k5 later.
Good solution even though I think losing cr shouldnât make you scared or feel bad, it âs a part of a ranking system (maybe you are scared of people checking you and making fun about it, which is dumb from them and you shouldnâ t care imo).
Probably more of a bad taste making you not want to push rather than fear, tho i could be wrong im doing the exact same thing in soloQ because of the mad queue times and rejects i get when the 3rd pop finally 6/6 and we go. The current meta is mostly unplayable for anyone not glad already which doesnt help either
Have several alts to play, so you can get fancy rating on one, f around on others? That seems to be the best way to beat rating anxiety, also allows you to test different builds without much drawback
Or just swap to a diff spec, push that to the same rating/higher and then you can queue up main spec again, without risking to drop the âprecious ratingâ, if we talking about shuffle here. Alts are also a good way to keep playing without risking your precious number. Rn you can pretty much gear a char in less than 30mins with some conq boxes.
i recommend making a second warlock or alts to play . gearing is very fast right now and should be no problemo . i personally have two priests right now just for the memes.
but yeah i do not think you should care much about the numbers just focus on how to enjoy the game
posting incognito because I have exactly the same problem, and im kinda embarrased about that. ive always been interested in pvp and arena and i never mind losing, trying out some new stuff/comps/classes etc. ofc you fail, thats the only way to learn.
but for the past 2 or 3 years i noticed that i play less and less arena. whenever i reach a rating that i consider âgoodâ i stop, i completely lose interest in that character and im somehow afraid to lose rating. i dont even know why and it doesnt make sense. its worse on characters i care about (like my mains) than on the ones i casually play on.
i even tried the trick with having 2 chars but as soon as i reach my goal on one i kinda feel embarrased or whatever to lose games on the second one. which also doesnt make any sense. and ofc i got worse by not-playing / playing significantly less than before.
i dont even care about being high rated, for example when the inflation is high and for example 2,4 is super easy to get i dont push (i just play whenever i feel like it in general)
that all doesnt make much sense but i tried everything, the second char, taking a break, not looking at the rating. but when i have a losing streak in SS for example, whatever reason it might be (personal misplay, people dying without cds, bad lobby etc) it makes me feel like the worst player in history and i dont wanna play at all anymore.
dunno how to overcome this because i actually enjoy arena and usually i dont even care about balance that much, i always stick to my classes and dont care about others.
Make an alt of the same class and spec. Send it boxes. Queue all you want without caring.
This also opens up trying different racials for your spec. More fun.
Also what was mentioned previously is true - focus on the gameplay, not the rating. When you are confident enough in your own ability to win, rating will come on its own.
Unless your spec sucks and you queue the circus randomizer bracket.
In my experience all of these concerns seem common for players who donât play many games per season (barring a few exceptions). Just learn from the ways of the legend of the past Anoraaz and play 1 million games per season and any sense of concern or anxiety about your rating will completely vanish and you can finally enjoy the game. I think exposing yourself to failure 1 million times is the best remedy for that.
Anyway thereâs nothing permanent about rating. You could be 4000 games into the depths of the combatant brackets, all it takes is 1 short winstreak to get many leagues above that thereâs nothing inherently locking or permanent about your rating.
if that rly is a problem for u then just hide ur alt on check-pvp and set ingame that only char specific achievemnts are shown for that toon. nobody will know that this char is maneuvered by the same person as ur main.
and just so u know, ur not posting incognito the way ur set up.
people on the pvp forums use check-pvp to stalk other players. check-pvp recognizes characters that are from the same account and shows these âlinkedâ chars.
using myself as an example, on my main -Bic- check-pvp shows my alts: https://imgur.com/a/tSaze3T
its the same for u. if one looks up the toon u posted on he can see all ur other chars on check-pvp.
one way to prevent this is to make a check-pvp account and sync ur battle net with it. then u can hide Lýen on there and it wont be connected to ur other chars anymore on check-pvp.
there are other ways to hide chars but im not familiar with those.
oh no you didnt, you just assume his gender. what if she has no
what does she grow
but you are right, testo is a big factor on risk taking and generally being more confident and not care what others think about you etc you are right, she just need grow
