After last titan end or what?

It feels like wow main storyline as a whole might be wrapping up by the end of worldsoul saga, because it seems that by lore the biggest battle will be fought in midnight/last titan and that is battle between void and the light. Then we have a question here: what’s next?
If we already will be fighting the biggest of bads and threats to the whole Azeroth and there are hints that we succeed (light wins hint in one of the comics), then what will be left to tell afterwards? Will blizzard still be able to engage playerbase with story after we defeated biggest of bads, and how it would look like. I doubt there will be wow 2 anyways, a lot of players will just show their outrage about losing collections/achievements and it will cost a lot of development time.
So what do you think would happen? Another dragonflight beach episode of an expansion after saga or maybe they return to the roots and start over like in vanilla with story being much more simple but fun at the same time?
Feel free to have a civil discussion

Well, aside from teh comics not being canon…

There are still more than enough baddies out there… Sure, We´re almost gcertainaly going to see Azshara again soon, Illidan`s return (and likely with him Sargeras´ and the Pantheon) has also been teased, and then we have the whole Voidlords vs Naaru Celebrity Deathmatch incoming

But for example Denathrius and the Dreadlords are still at large, we still don´t know who the 5th old god is…

But to be honest, after TWSS I wouldn’t be averse to a “dragonflight 2”, becasue Dragonflight, as “unspectacular” as it was, was exactly what WoW needed after ca 10 years of dealing with ever growing and ever larger cosmic level threats… a return to the classic high fantasy style (“Dungeons and dragons”) that WoW at it´s core was always about.

I still want to know and see the first ones in wow story.
we never found out who are they

And in the same vein, we know for a fact thanks to dev interviews diring SL that there is a “Clockmaker”, so somebody outside of all of existence as we know it…

While I don´t necessarily think it´s a good Idea to “go after” Him /Her /It, it´s definitely a possible story arc for a future date, and IIRC it was said that on a conceptual level they´re already working on 17.0… so they basically already have some sort of plan in mind for at least the next roughly 10 years…

I think the World Soul saga is meant to wrap up the main story of World of Warcraft – the narrative arc that reveals the big conspiracy and the big showdown for the fate of the universe.
That’s pretty much what Blizzard are setting up and what Metzen alluded to at Blizzcon, I think.

And it makes sense. If Blizzard and Metzen wants WoW and Warcraft to have a legacy in gaming, it really needs a form of climatic finale and not just fizzle out slowly over time. Decades of story building needs a pay-off. And if it’s going to have a finale, it’s probably best to have that whilst there are still players around to experience it. And I’m sure Metzen also wants to wrap up his own life creation before he inevitably retires for good.

So there’ll be the clash between The Light and The Void, and afterward the Titans and Azeroth and dragons and Illidan and us and whatever else Blizzard can throw in there for a climatic ending.

And there’ll likely be some sort of resolution that wraps it all up.

And then whatever comes after the World Soul saga, whatever Blizzard plans for the next 20 years of adventure as they’ve said, can have a clean slate and a fresh start. There are plenty of other stories for Blizzard to tell, and I think they’ve sowed the seeds for many of them with the changing of the guards (Tess taking over for Greymane, Shandris for Tyrande and Malfurion, and so forth). And they also have a greater adventure with both New Avalon being hinted and The First Ones and the other realms of Arcane and Life and so forth.

So yeah, I expect the ending, and I expect a form of reset and a new beginning after the World Soul.

The way you say it makes it sound like a pro wrestling “Royal Rumble” event… 2 people start, every minute and a half (or 2 minutes? Last time I watched one was like 1989 or so…meh, doesn´t matter) another gets added into the fray, hilarity and chaos ensue until one is left standing

dude why you allways talk to me like a story teller :joy:
just make it simple man ., i cant read 56955123 words everytime.
im not a smart developer like you ,. i like to see simple small thing

im not sure if im playing online games in the next 10 years but i hope i see some sort of story about the first ones one day soon

Game go maintenance mode and blizz announce a dif mmorpg.

We thought the same when we were about to confront Sargeras in Legion. But the writers modified the story so that it can move forward. The same thing will happen in The Last Titan.

There must always be a Lich K- er… a bad guy.

I really want it to be an undercover agent. I love betrayal plot twists.

Are you referring to the threat that the Jailer was mentioning, with “no-one will be able to prevent what is to come” and such? It could also be tied to the Void corrupting and killing the World Soul of Azeroth, first attempting it with the Old Gods but failing, then with Xal’atath that we are experiencing now.

I want my fight against Sargeras!

I thought the 5th old god was ghuun?

Wish it were, i was 15/16 around that time and i liked me’dan. I was hoping to see him in Legion along Meryl or in WoD with his great uncle Maraad.

We will fight good old Quilboars and Satyrs.

I doubt that, considering how the “Overwatch” to “Overwatch 2” transition went, i doubt Blizz would risk a repeat repeat of that with WoW 2, not to mention the development costs involved would be huge.

Hmmmmm… Is the Jailer a WoW developer?

I´m speaking of the interview with Ion where he said “There is a Clockmaker”, and I think there were 2 or 3 more dev interviews where similar statements were made. :beers:

I personally believe that the Jailer was speaking of the Voidlords and /or the Naaru, depending on which side of that fence you´re on.

I mean no disrespect, but then simply don´t read it. This is a discussion forum, not Twitter, and I will not arbitrarily limit myself to 140 chars or less just because some people can´t be arsed to read 2 sentences. :beers:

G’huun was created by accident during experiments on the other imprisoned old gods. It´s possible that the Titans lumped it in with the other 4 in an effort to downplay their role in it´s creation, but it´s also just as possible that there is in fact still a 5th “real” OG chained up out there somewhere because the book speaks of imprisoning 5, and “The Old Gods and the ordering of Azeroth” was initially retconned to only mention 4 old gods which was still the status quo when we fought G’Huun, and then re-retconned to be 5 again when DF came out.

Also, Y’Sharrj was never “imprisoned”, but flat out ripped out of the planet, creating the Well of Eternity. So, theoretically there could even be 2 still chained up somewhere… in the end, it all depends on how exactly the titanforged decided to twist the truth.

I have absolutely no idea but I am quite certain it is not the end of WoW. Perhaps afterwards we’ll be focusing on more day-to-day threats than just the end of the world. There’s plenty more to explore.

Ah, I’ve missed that, apologies. I went by the monologue of Zovaal when he is defeated.

No need to apologize, if everyone watched and read “everything” then discussions like this would be boring, and sometimes not knowing something is “better”, as the resulting trains of thought can lead to interesting new ideas as well.

TBH i personally wish we didn’t “know” that there is a clockmaker, as it´s kind of irrelevant anyway, unless we explicitly want to escape our universe and destroy it, much like the Architect is kind of pointless in the Matrix other than to add context… I mean, every universe ever was by definition created by someone or something, knowing it´s name /face if there is one doesn´t really add much.

They tend to plan ahead so I’m sure there is more to come. I’m useless at speculation and I just wait and see.

To be honest I would be more than happy if after world soul saga they do some kind of reset to the whole storytelling and statuses quo we have rn with factions/forces and such.
For example reset the whole factions thing, where maybe all previous crimes will be either paid off or forgotten and now we start a new, building new alliances and unions with various nations across azeroth. That would be possible after the whole world will be wrecked and we will be witnessing aftermath of the light/void and other battles thought during TWSS.
Then as other people said, there might be a lot of uncovered stories yet about new possible threats/challenges in azeroth even after world soul saga which would be interesting to discover in new azeroth.
So I also think more or less it will be big reset time for wow, not in the sense they release new wow but that the story will be reset to be it like on clean slate again
