Not all the time, but very often, the screen freezes, but I can click on stuff.
I can hear things are going on, but the screen of the game freezes.
I can’t multitask nowhere, and it stays like that for 10-15 seconds.
Make sure you have set the game to run as Windowed Mode instead of Fullscreen.
Then update graphics card drivers and your operating system in general.
It wouldn’t hurt to do a scan of the game files themselves as well.
-=EDIT=-
I suppose you have 16GiB or more of RAM, right? Current WoW struggles to run at 12GiB and I suppose it’s unbearable to play at 8GiB. Without addons or any other app running in Windows, memory consumption skyrockets from 3GiB to 14GiB + up to 2 more as compressed memory
Had the same issue, I think a fair few have. It came after one of the most recent windows updates. Running a 4090, AMD7950 X3D, 64GB of ram and I’m still getting random freezes when tabbing in and out of wow at times.
Everything was fine until a very recent windows update and alt tabbing in wow has been met with arbitrary freezes when tabbing back in. Game runs absolutely fine when tabbed in. Just the moments I decide to tab out and back in…
You will find quite a few people having issues with Windows update 24H2. Will need microsoft to either fix it or just endure it I’m afraid…
Got macOS issues as well. Sometimes WoW will decide to show beneath other windows and you have to tab back to it.
I have as of yet been unable to find a reason for this behaviour, but it comes in episodes - sometimes there’s nothing for days, and then suddenly it happens for an entire M+ run, constantly.
This does not happen on Linux though, as others have noted, but this is because most Linux composers, especially Wayland ones because Wayland doesn’t support this, don’t allow windows to force themselves into becoming active, and it also doesn’t support for applications to take control of the screen. Wayland is very strict about this stuff.
Right now, legit, WoW works best on the only system it doesn’t support.
Of course I don’t have 24H2 yet. Because… I’m not booting Windows often enough to give Microsoft an opportunity to install it I guess. It has been… a few months? Think the last time was the release of FSFS2024 which sadly needed some more time in the oven (It is good though when it works!)
