After world soul saga, what is after? wow 2

but guild wars 3 is in the making since 2023 announced. i think that dev team is making good changes, its important for mmorpg playerbase to sometimes remove old shells and make new memories. i think wow will fail immensely if they did not make wow 3. in fact wod change was very good change for wow community, by replacing old graphics you remove some of your memory as well, this is important if you look it from perspective of growing as a person. why would 30-32 year of your life be so important, or 48 or 60. its all in play of cycles and they should really do it at some point, just so players can get into new shell and experience things from new perspective. i would welcome that change and i wouldnt care about any of my characters or items or achievements i collected.

That’s good for you then you are able to keep your eyes open for a game that gives you what you are looking for and you can jump ship since nothing holds you here.

I like all the stuff I gathered in the last 20 years and I’d like to keep it

but why do u feel its important to wow team? you really shouldnt approach to it like that, dont u know u are in minority if you really understood internet. 80% of players play for m+/pvp/raids, these players care only about fun, only small amount of players would want some changes like titles to come to the new game, but even that is not really important and they could go without it easily, as they are different than you and after all we are not kids. take in mind that I understand you as well, not meaning you are kid brain, but I am just saying that there are so many players that think same as me, but these people do not care about chatting in mmorpgs or posting on forums. indeed its like that. theres like big brain of grp of peoples that are thinking same, but are not involved in any kind of chat/interaction except discord for m+ or pvp/raid. /// edit: these kind of players are adult ordinary humans

But why do what you want need to take what I like away?

Go out there and advocate for a high paced competitive game with sand box elements. Why does that need to be on the foundation of killing wow like it is?

it is not like they will be sitting there for 4 years . they will be working on world saga and with the recent layoffs the chances of wow 2 are next to zero .

Blizzard would never take such risk, a wow 2 means a different game = losing everything you got in wow and starting something new with potentially completely different gameplay. Me and probably the vast majority of old players would not be playing it.

Pirate Isles in the Southern Continent ran by the Azj-Kaput.

Thats a no from me. I am nearly 50 and have played since vanilla.

I play WoW for what it is, a version 2 reboot and starting from scratch doesn’t appeal to me, I enjoy the game as it is. Some expansions I play solo, some I m+ and raid.

I have a teenage son who games and has no interest in mmos so without nostalgia I wonder about the market reach of a new mmorpg in this universe. Better to expand on what is here.

After wss, we’re going to an island to fight the Ararthi.

They have already said in an interview that they have brainstormed lore for up to expansion 17 or patches 17.x

WoW already has almost dropped levelling. Less than 1% of your total time is spent levelling.

Not all change is good.

If anything, we are in the 4th chapter.

  • 1st chapter ended with the defeat of the Lich King
  • 2nd chapter ended with the defeat of the Legion
  • 3rd chapter ended with the defeat of N’Zoth
Besides, outside the fact that we win because we are the players, we don’t know how we will win nor what we may lose in the process. The story writers always make sure to have something left over to allow the story to progress (like the Legendary weapon of Shadow Priests which precursored the War Soul Saga).

Wasn’t Cataclysm supposed to be WoW 2, where the old world became pretty much permanently deleted from the game?

Make it happen coz we pay way too much and you give us only cosmetic, pet and mount. Where is the game we used to play like classic? Why do you think cosmetic, pet and mount are more important than to make game great again like Diablo IV focus on cosmetic instead of the game?

I hope that I can get my elite s9 set completed before that point lol.

And i am not confident at all after how ow2 turned out to be .it is better to just have wow 1 then wow 2

I hope Blizz won’t go for a “WoW 2”, “Starcraft 2” never got as popular as the original was, and the less said about “Overwatch 2”, the better.

Besides that, if “WoW 2” means losing all the stuff we’ve collected in-game over the years, i doubt many players will be jumping with joy at the prospect of starting all over again

idk why are u all against it, tho I understand that one person in comments that is 50 year old. but why we around 30 years old do not want WoW 2

Something massive should happen imho. Either wow 2 or somekind of massive overhaul if they wish to continue the game.

Poe2 carried over tmogs for poe1, so that can be one way.

WoW 2 is basically the evolution of the game you’re currently playing and each additional expansion they are adding, which is several more from memory. That’s already a commitment for many years down the road.

What you’re asking is for them to build an entirely new game from scratch, that’s going to look, feel, and play differently, which means risking the current base.

Right now Blizzard is running retail WoW, Classic and it’s successful. They would either be making a game to compete with itself, or to replace it and if those players don’t like the game, then it would be all for nothing.

They’ll continue updating graphics as expansions move on, but they do have to make sure that the game doesn’t go too far up in PC requirements or they exclude a portion of their own subscriber base.

It’s also an MMO, so it needs to be able to produce many players on a screen at once, as well as an open world. Most other games arent producing that.

There are many reasons and they have been explained so many times when this discussion arises. Some of them off the top of my head:

  • WoW2 means that everything in WoW1 would be lost. No collector or completionist wants that.
  • WoW2 means that almost everyone would have to upgrade their computers specifically to be able to play the game at proper framerates (over 30).
  • WoW2 means that the development team would be split even more than currently where they have Retail, and all iterations of Classic, and WoW1 would go on maintenance mode, which means even more people would leave it than naturally and even fewer people would try it out, making it become a ghost town even faster and therefore a lot of players who enjoy the social aspect would be hit by it.
  • WoW2 would have even more action-oriented gameplay than currently to appeal to the newer generation and to attract customers that will stay for many years, which means that many of the current folk that enjoy its playstyle with tab-targetting and clicking on abilities would not enjoy it as much

Dunno. But as long as WoW is making money, I seriously doubt it.
