Against Overwhelming odds will be nerfed next week

So, the devs have spoken!. From MMO-champion:

War Mode

  • They don’t anticipate the item level 400 reward quest happening every week because there are a lot more Alliance participating in War Mode.
  • The extra rewards were meant to encourage more Alliance to participate but also to make Horde who did not like PvP to turn it off.
  • They agree that item level 400 is a little too high at the beginning of a raid tier. It won’t be changed this week, but next week if it is available again it will be reduced to 385 and another form of reward will be added, such as war resources.
  • The War Mode bonus is determined by the amount of players participating on the outnumbered faction. They believe it might drop to 25% next week.
  • The discrepancy between factions in War Mode has been cut in half since the change.
  • The team is working on the issues causing the lag in certain War Mode shards.

Good things, good things.

I especially like the part about them wanting to make Horde who did not like PvP to turn warmode off. Seems like they agree with the notion that Warmode should be about wpvp first, and reward second.

Now I know that the reward is what brought in all the allies in the first place, but you gotta get them in somehow. And now that they’re in, lower the reward, and see who sticks around.

I like it!
Thank you for info!

Especially this - is VERY GOOD, and can’t happen soon enough.

Don’t thank me, thank mmo-champion. I probably should put that in the op… sec…

And yes I agree, I’m glad they’re looking into the lag issue.

Just leave this game . Oh and before that can I has your gold please?

The lag in Voldun this evening was horrific. Trying to kill the captain on the airship took ages as it bugged out repeatedly. Good that they will nerf the quest…bad that by default that means only one faction get a shiny 400 piece. It really feels as if Blizz are just making things up as they go along with no thinking whatsoever about how it will impact the players.

Why would ask that? Who wants to leave the game?

That moment when your inability to read causes you to completely misunderstand a post, making a complete idiot of yourself.:joy::joy: priceless.

I think they could just buy some new decent servers and fix it instantly if they really wanted to.
Id like for them to post speccs of servers, i wouldnt be supriced if they are still running on some 10+ year old hardware

also i think hordies rather just quit the game rather then toggle off wm, too see numbers that unsubbed last days would be fun

That’s good. Kinda.

Would prefer to give the quest to both factions, maybe change each week or to both together.

But this is okay too!

I personaly dont care much about this change, but i have to tell you you are very wrong in one thing:

I came back to wow just recently, but all the years on all my charakter i played on PVP servers. I have the WM on from the start and never turned in off. The fun thing is that i get my asss kicked constantly … surprisingly I never had the need to whine here on forim nor in game. And i am pretty sure that a lot of players (both horde and alliance) feel the same.

They should keep the reward BUT it has to change to something like: In order to be eligible for said loot to have Warmode off option DISABLED for the whole week.
ie. if you disable it at some point of the week to permanently lose the reward (obviously with a warning, so there won’t be qqing).

What this solution fixes? The casual people that have no intention in outdoor pvping BUT every Wednesday grab the quest, turn WM ON and camp the flightpath, get 25 kills and be gone for the rest of the week hiding in warmode off.

So the 400 ilvl item should be rewarded ONLY to the people that stay 100% 24/7 in Warmode (as it is suppose to fix the existing imbalance between factions going into warmode)

I like this a lot! Good stuff!

The best of this idea (IMO) is that because of no more on/off switchers - the end of the week WM faction balance will be more accurate, and those - more fair rewards for both factions for the next week.

And yes - reward should be for those who actually plays in War Mode.

But there is no need to remove rewards - if player accepts this quest, WM button just greys out and can’t be pressed till the next reset - like on a cooldown. With a warning when accepting.

There is just one problem with this idea - it can be cheated. Player can just stay WM off for the week, without taking this quest. Then take it on the last day and finish it. Making quest available only on a reset day or anything like that is not an option - very bad.

But if WM button had an actual 7 days Cooldown on it when accepting this quest - then it will work perfectly.

Good stuff!
I hope Blizzard listens to this.

Thats a good idea, since alot of people just get the object then turn off. That way it will mean, you want to have the 400 Item? then you not only have to ern it, you need to show it for keeps. Rewarding people that have wm on all the time rather than just people coming on to get the item.

I like this idea. Probably won’t happen though. I can already hear blizzard giving the “it’s too confusing for players” excuse they seem to love nowadays.

The not picking up the quest problem can be worked around. Just let the quest pop up when you log in after reset and make it non-ignorable, but deletable. But, if you delete it you can’t get it for that week.

Edit. But I guess they could still just activate Warmode on the last day before reset… Hmm… Well, I’m positive that there is a solution for this.

Maybe let the reward scale up throughout the week, getting higher a couple ilvls each day (or two days wahtever) that you’re in Warmode. And if you disable it it resets to it’s base ilvl again.

So no matter when player gets this quest - accept it and you’re in WM for 7 days.

Abandoning quest could reset it’s progress and WM button CD too - so if player didn’t complete it they get they way out of WM if they want it.

But finishing this quest and getting a reward - WM button is on CD for 7 days without any resets.

If another quest accepted when WM button CD is still in progress - CD resets back to 7 days, but only after quest completion and receiving a reward, so there is still some way out if player changed their mind.

Seems fair.

Or maybe - give this quest only to players who were in WM for a 7 days in a row without switching it off.

Could be a simpler solution.

All viable solutions, but a bit unintuitive and prone to accidents. Especially that keeping Warmode on for 7 days first solution.

I’d say give the quest to everyone, set the the base reward at lfr ilvl. The more time you spend in Warmode, the higher the ilvl gets. So lets say after two days it becomes normal ilvl, then after two more hc ilvl.

Then you got the whole week to complete the quest, but if you turn off Warmode at any point that week, the reward will revert back to it’s lfr base. And you’ll get the reward at the end of the week.

Coolgroove! I saw you in the cooking BG yesterday, it was me jumping up and down as you kicked my butt. Well, our entire team got our butts kicked. It was not the Horde’s finest hour, that’s for sure!

Good to hear this.

Last time I checked, Horde at 120 is 55% of characters in EU, and Alliance 45%. Might not be set in stone I realise. 10% difference is almost a non-issue.

So basically, Alliance had the numbers all along, but didn’t want to turn WM on, until it was attractive enough to do so, i.e. bribed with a larger bonus and extra loot? Yes, Alliance got ganked etc, but surely this was because so many Alliance had WM disabled?

Based on the above presumption the factions are not massively unbalanced, of course. Could be wrong about it all!

If people enjoyed WPVP for PVP’s sake, the bonuses and bribes would not matter to be honest. Although I suppose to be fair, why not reward players equally if you do so at all?

Otherwise you end up penalising the players who want to just play.

  • The extra rewards were meant to encourage more Alliance to participate but also to make Horde who did not like PvP to turn it off.

No idea what’s so good about this?! Horde likes to PvP, but they like it too much for Blizzard’s standards because alliance is bunch of losers at pvp so let’s make horde quit pvp unless they REEAAAALLY super-duper like PvP?

As a Horde PvP player I feel this is unfair and it ruins my game experience. Give both sides equal rewards and maybe the numbers get equal.
