AH Changes - Well played Blizzard!

The best change Blizzard has done to the AH for normal wow players ever.

Just for a bit background for those who are not part of the gold making community. Basically gold makers use an addon called Trade Skill Master (TSM) to scan the auction house quickly cancelling and reposting any time they are uncut on a auction. You could list your Uncanny Mace that you just crafted to sell but if someone else using TSM is listing the same item you will usually be undercut within a minute making the chance that you could ever sell that mace pretty low as soon as he has sold one TSM will list another on the AH.

Blizzard have changed it to massively nerf these ‘cancel scans’ so that the normal wow player base now actually has a shot at selling stuff on the AH.

GJ Blizzard (for once )

Heh nice bait post… every addon gives advantages to players that use it compared to players that dont use it.

So when is blizz “fixing” all other addons that can give people any sort of advantage aka every other addon in game?

Well done Blizzard, great change. Hopefully you’ll continue curbing these destructive addons that abuse fair play and create server traffic jams.

Will this affect throwing stuff onto the AH too? I don’t really bother playing the AH now, but I still use an Addon to throw up a bunch of stuff.

If you can’t sell stuff now, you’ll still not be able to sell stuff after this change.

It will just take longer to use the auction house and most hardcore sellers have alt accounts just for posting, so wont effect them nearly as much as a causal player

It’s so funny to me to see someone making an “explanation” for how TSM works, which also completely shows that they have no idea how TSM works.

Seems like it. It is also going to affect any big postings. RIP to transmog sellers.

What’s unfair regarding TSM? 'twould only be unfair if only a small section of people had access to it - want to get in on it? Go download it - it’s free!

If you do try it you’ll also realise that it’s a LOT more than just something to post auctions with. The restocking and organisation tools are a work of genius, plus mailing operations that can send the right items to the right crafter are a godsend - means less time faffing about and more time I can play the game rather than managing a bloated regbank!

The vast majority of TSM is fine it’s only the cancel scanning that caused a negative effect on the game play experience of others. In some markets no matter how many players try to compete one person will always be the only one selling and monopolies are only fun to the person on top.

As others have said they really need to make adjustments to what they have changed to allow transmog sellers to actually have a chance of being able to list everything.

Anyone thinking this is good doesn’t understand the effect these changes will have. Gold goblins - ie. the people who spend a lot of their time either crafting stuff or at the AH - are the ones that are driving the economy on pretty much every server, and are the ones who make sure that there’s actually stuff on the AH to buy for the average players.

You made a new alt and need an enchant for your heirlooms? The ones crafting them and putting them up on the AH are goblins using TSM.
Need some bags as well? A goblin made them.
You need consumables for your raid or m+? Made and sold by the goblins.
Who crafts, farms and put 1500+ BoE items from old expansions up on the AH? Not normal players, goblins selling transmogs do.

… and so on.

With these changes, a lot of goblins will stop selling a lot of the stuff they were keeping up on the AH.

You want BiS heirloom shoulder enchant from MoP? Well to bad - the 350g profit per enchant sold combined with how only 3-4 sells per week makes it a waste to keep it up on the AH when the posting is throttled. To make it worth it for the goblins, the price will have to be at least 2000g instead of the current 400g… so the normal players will either see a price hike, or not be able to find it at all on the AH…

Same thing will happen to tons of other markets. Goblins selling transmogs and battle pets will select the 30-40 best sellers, and drop the other 1000+ items they were selling.

Consumable costs will go up, as goblins focus on selected high earning items - leading to less competition in each market = higher prices. With less competition, market manipulations like resetting and flipping will also become easier and more profitable.

There will also be less demand for materials, have fun trying to sell the old world mats you farmed when leveling - far less will be around to craft those mats into stuff like transmogs and heirloom enchants anymore.

TL;DR: This will not only hurt the AH players, but the average players as well. The AH will become more barren, with less stuff to buy, and the stuff that still will be on the AH will become more expensive.

The change is in essence an artificial limit on “supply” in “Supply and demand” - and that equals higher prices for the average player. So anyone liking this, enjoy spending more gold on things like flasks and enchants, not being able to buy a transmog or battle pet you were missing, and so on.

Good job Blizzard. It took you thoe 3 expansion but credit where credit is due.
It just confirmed what i was saying back in Wod on the forums. It is slowing down the AH and is acting like a bot tool.

This is a win for players that play to enjoy the game and players that wanna have immersion.

It’s no fun when huge amounts of things get bought in mere seconds nor is it fun when you gotta pay for premium TSM to start making huge amount of gold with a few clicks.

Hopefully, Botting and gathering multiboxxers are next, because it’s no fun having no real chance on herbing Zin’anthid nor is it fun competing with bots in gold making.

All you’ve said is good and all but then you realize the " supply " is gatekept by these very goblins and any people trying to supply will always be losing.

You fail to realize that now that these " supply " items are on demand more, people will be more inclined to farm them and engage in trade, we don’t need a complex system as this is a game and people want to enjoy it, if I wanted a complex one I’d invest in the stockmarket.

It should be noted that on top of everything TSM locked some info and input for the addon behind premium accounts that you had to buy in order to have access. Not sure whats blizzard stance behind that and how it effects TOS.

Im sure it’s not only to ‘‘help the common man’’ as much as it is helping server stability.

It probably doesnt help server lag to have hundreds of effective bots just posting and reposting their auctions all day every day.

I find it funny how the gold makers and flippers are trying to fear monger normal players that this change will impact them as well.

No, it won’t. No normal player is cancelling and relisting thousands of items daily.

TSM should’ve been banned since day one. AH auto cancellers shouldn’t have been allowed.

The server economy is being driven by “goblins” because blizzard allowed them to, so instead of it being a normal supply and demand flow, you have monopoly or oligopoly.

Good job blizzard, resource gathering bots should come next, please.

They even have the audacity to threaten blizzard over it too.

Apparently blizzard destroying the way they play the game how they want is not fine, but them destroying other people’s fun ( me included since I quit farming because of goblins ) is fine.

These dumb botlike addons some of which are hidden behind paywalls had it coming.

I’m looking forward coming back to this BlizzBall licking post in couple of weeks, with lags still persisting and AHs empty. I just wonder if any of you economically undereducated folks will come back to admit they were wrong.

There’s 10 of you tearing with joy here, 100s commenting against this fix elsewhere. Who’s minority and who’s normal player?

You don’t need premium TSM to do anything. I’m using the free version to post my transmog.

But why aren’t there more people in this thread complaining about the fix if they are so much more in the majority?
