people try to push prices lower by flooding the market… in order to try and make a move to buy out a item and control it while it is popular.
best action to take … is ignore the lower prices… dont react… but it is near impossible to get everyone to do it … there is always some clowns who dont play the auction house … who will just blindly come along and sell for whatever the price is without even researching the trends…
such is life on the market…
not much can be done about it.
if you have the fund to buy them out and repost the sales… that is also a valid option… it maintains the current price and with a slight profit as well.
Personally i would never undercut the price on fast moving high volume markets unless you need a quick sale to buy something you need.
My biggest gripe with the AH at the moment is the LIFO which just encourages cancelling and reposting with no penalty. Trying to sell higher priced items like leggos is impossible when you have goblins online 6/8/12 hours a day reposting within a minute of you posting your auction.
When this happens and i know i have no chance of selling i just hammer the price down 5k,10k or whatever so it’s maybe 1 or 2k above crafting cost.
As to people saying its crazy to post the lower leggos a few k below crafting costs it has its purpose. It’s to discourage others from attempting to get into the market and selling the higher end items.
LIFO is worst system what i ever see…
and make no sense
this system only hurts ppl who dont play AH but use AH casually
because they cant sell anything…
common casual drop / farm anything and run into AH with smile on face, put it there and run away to enjoy another adventure in dungeon / raid / quest / anywhere… right after he turn away from AH vendor someone put there 100 times more of that items with the same price… then after few sec another one 200 times more, 2 sec after someone undercut it… at end of day dear casual find his item burried under 10.000 pieces of the same item and auction is 10 golds below his price
then he just cancel his auction and sold it to vendor / disenchant it
not at all and not that much like LIFO
im playing from WotLK on the same server… and after this change is rly worst AH ever… even when u was undercutted in old AH, u still can sell, now its impossible
before there was just undercut…
now u need dealwith undercutting and even with LIFO and relisting
and with “brand new” auction system…
The “market price” is a price that has been dictated by some players that does not actually mean it is “THE” price. The only actual valid price for all items is the one the vendor gives you if you sell to them - everything else is made up by players eager to make money.
Some players, over time, have sought to make more and more money and driven up the prices to what is in some way a silly amount for some items.
Other players just want to make a quick turnaround and get gold so they undercut as everyone will buy the cheapest first (regardless of the fact that if you list at the lowest level sales are handled on the last in first out). They used the LIFO to try and curb the race to the bottom but you know what - despite it being written on the very page you list items on the news has not got out there.
There is nothing wrong with listing items for less - the player listing is entitled to make as much or as little money as they want. Complaining about it is not going to achieve anything.
ok, so say i want to buy an icecream… There are two vendors, one take 40 and the other takes 20… Chances are i will buy from the one selling at 20…
Same with the AH… It sells faster, and you rarely have to deal with going to the mailbox to get back your listings just to re-up them to the AH… For Korthite Crystals on my server i usually undercut with 2-400 when listing mine.
EDIT: You want to beat the competition, not hold hands with them keeping the prices bonkers-high… #ConsumerLivesMatter
I keep lowering prices because not every player has millions of gold if i make my item 5-10k cheaper i really do not care if a goblin snaps it up but atleast somebody had a chance to grab it cheaper .
