AI Art as character reference (And now some very unrelated conversation)

From my end, as I said specifically, I did not wish to assume, but as I also said, I do find it very much in bad faith to seek out a very specific discussion amongst a specific group, then make your entire argument that it is wrong because they are not talking about another issue all together.

Which as I also said, is a common enough tactic with some groups that it is enough for me to raise eyebrows.

Your believes, yes. Your intentions, I don’t know personally. You seem to hold a very specific grudge towards something that by all accounts of your own description, you should be all for. Yet you keep using very distinctive worlds and an almost conspiratorial view of some global cabal of people you don’t seem to like.

That is fair, it can be interpreted differently.

I do want to touch on this because I find it interesting, but as mentioned, art can be incredibly subjective. There are pieces, especially in post-modern that people can find absolutely ridiculous, but often the point is for people to get a reaction and talk. That isn’t to say there are things that are just, weird. Or grift. I went to a modern art museum that specifically had two pieces I hated that I found to be nothing but a scam. One was a naked man filming himself slowly humping a camera(all from the camera’s perspective) and the other was a twig with a rope tied to it. Both were specifically sold to the museum for a large amount of money.

But, it is worth noting that this time of post-modern performance art in both its forms is a massive minority of art and expression. But it gets most shock value so it gets brought up more prominently than it exists.

People disagreeing with your points is not “dogpiling”, and to be equally blunt myself without meaning to be rude directly to you, I am a bit tired of seeing it as a handwaved excused whenever someone posts something people don’t generally like. It washes your own responsibility of your tone and comments away and puts all the blame on the people who just doesn’t share your views.

Loras specifically spoke about a general tone and group, and has infact been very specific in being careful to put a pin on you. I grew up christian myself and would consider myself that at least to a sort of religious belief. That said, I am fully aware of injusticies done in the name of both protestant and catholisism. And again, simply saying “its just the extremists” is throwing away responsibilities. There are deep-rooted issues within both catholisism and protestantism that needs to be adressed by believers, in particular the treatment of LGBTQ+ & or trans identities.

Also going full on bible rant in this topic is a bit strange, and that you seem to take such a deep personal offense that Loras who didn’t even question religion, just spoke about how a certain political group(not even religion) has problems with them trying to deny their existence.

A pretty idealised perception of what the Catholic Church is (or maybe what it should be) but not something especially grounded in the reality of the congregation and its prevailing beliefs. Theory vs practice, I guess.

Of course, Francis is an improvement on Benedict Palpatine though.

I specifically emphasised the hard-right bit not the Catholicism bit until it was more directly mentioned, yeah.

We should ask the Pope what his position is on AI art. Could statues be designed by an AI, then 3D-printed, for example? Icons too?

A question for the philosophers.

It could make for some terrifying, biblically accurate angels at least.

Francis (or as his friends call him, “the F-Bomb”) doesn’t seem a big fan.

Francis, who once told ABC news he never used a computer and admonished the faithful not to sit behind computers or lock themselves in their offices and argue like “keyboard warriors,” was the subject of multiple deepfake pictures that went viral earlier this year.
[…]
The Pope urged the need to develop artificial intelligence responsibly. He stressed the need for vigilance to ensure that artificial intelligence does not fuel violence, and discrimination, especially that targets vulnerable and marginalized communities.

“So that it may be at the service of humanity and the protection of our common home, requires that ethical reflection be extended to the sphere of education and law,” Francis said.

It perfectly reflects the :ox::poop: state of software generated imaging; derogatory, chaotic, lacking in structure and basics, producing abominations in the name of ‘engagement’/profit, and needs to be fired into the Sun with all haste.

Were it so easy.

Lmao. Cannot even show enough good faith in this discussion to not mock the name of Pope Benedict. You’re so utterly rotten and two-faced inside, all over this thread, and repeatedly in the past. I genuinely hope you find the happiness you seek and deserve.

The first thing you told me in the beginning of the exchanges was

Since then it’s been weird double-takes and flip-flopping on the topic, poorly representing my claims, twisting my words, blanking my answers etc. There is no point in entertaining your thoughts anymore. The bad faith began in the first exchange, and continued since then. You’re not genuine.

Yeah, you don’t know me. So don’t speak on my intentions and thoughts like you have before? Don’t speak of what grudges I hold, don’t speak of any of it. Enough with the dual-takes and the fence-riding. Dedicate. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

I don’t care for optics. Never have, never will. But you and your wider lot always do. Is that why you cannot dedicate? Is that why I come across so confusing to you?

Read the thread. It’s been a constant flow of the same usual talking heads doing sassy one-liners, vague-posting or backhanded, indirect commentary. How is that not a dogpile when people uninvolved in the conversation crop up to sass? It’s not productive in any way, shape or form. It’s laughably ironic to see some particular people try to grandstand and sass me, while they themselves have plunged so much further down into the pig den of :poop: flinging, only to speak of some “moral high horse”.

If I get attacked for my faith by people (“What does the unbeliever know of Christ?”) and have the Church’s stance misrepresented and twisted with the same aged, outright falsified claim, how is it strange to go Biblical on it? Once again. You’re not genuine. Stop pretending for optics’ sake and brownie points.

We were doomed from the moment social class was brought into it :pensive:

I had no idea; that’s quite interesting!

Also, given the importance the Church places on works of art to glorify Him, wouldn’t it be considered… spiritually hollow to allow a computer to do it instead of your own hard work and effort?

I felt that was very fitting since you came in guns blazing with a very hostile attitude and seemingly both mocking artists for generally existing and praising life being more difficult for them. That seemed personal to me, hence why I asked.

For someone who claims that “We can have different opinions, that is ok” you are very swift to disregard others when you don’t seem to be able to give a proper counter or get tired of it.

To be frank, it’s a public forum you yourself entered with a very clear strong bias. I am allowed to speculate, especially based of your comments.

Who is this “wider lot?”

What do you mean with this exactly?

NOBODY has attacked you for your faith. No one has said “You, Gothicism is bad because you are catholic”, not even close to it.

That you is you putting a massive victim sign on yourself and trying to use your own religious believes a shield for people criticizing & disagreeing on your opinions on a topic that has NOTHING to do with religion, and didn’t even include religion until you brought it up.

That if anything, is the peak of bad faith posting and incredibly insidious. I find it personally disrespectful towards everyone in this thread, the religion you proudly claim to follow and very snake-like.

What inherent proletarian purpose does the forum poster offer, I ask? Is not art a medium for discussion too, are we all just AI ourselves, interpreting and reinterpreting the past over and over? Are we just pay pigs in this capitalist ferris wheel of life?

Some very introspective ideas for us all to discuss and discover together…

Nah I make no pretense about my intelligence. It’s not artificial, it’s just not there.

Unfortunately yes…

True – it wasn’t us who brought up class, religion, and so on. Of course it’s also on me for having nothing else going on with my day and biting into it.

As I said, that if anything is what really gets me annoyed here. It wasn’t mentioned, or even hinted mentioned until he brought it up myself, and then directly says that the only reason he did it was because he is being “attacked for his faith”.

It’s frankly, to be as blunt as he wanted me to apparently, disgusting behavior and completely shows that a very clear-minded malice to the argument.
