(AKA, Any RP guides out there how to be a bad a<s<s in IC?)If you had the chance in roleplay to do something b<a<d a<s<s where everyone would remember your name, what would it be?

Like, you’d be recognised, “ooh there’s that guy…”, in IC that is, and everyone would acknowledge the title you have and can agree with it.

You know those hero moments in the movies where the guy or woman whatever gender gets that moment of… “damn i am a b<a<da<s<s.”

so what would that scenario be?

when im saying bad a<s<s i meaning like, walking away from an explosion and not looking back kinda thing… I am not sure what other word to use

My scenario is that, my RP character is like such a bad a<s<s that they have their own theme, and that they can walk anywhere and be recognised and feared, respected… like for example they turned out to be this unknown person with great ability in fighting… and has hid it for years, like just an average joe that turns out to be a super agent that can beat down hundreds with bare fists…

Has there been any like bad a<s<s roleplayers on Argent Dawn EU realm? That really stood out as like that type of roleplayer you don’t want to mess with in IC? Or are there just like wanna be ones…

I’d like to think my character is a bad @ss while I’m listening to some random youtube song… but then I realise… no… my character is not a bad a<s<s at all in IC, they just do boring stuff… sure they’ve fought in the fourth war (in an RP event, just before BFA dropped up there at Lordaeron)… I mean what’s not bad a<s<s about being in a war?

I don’t know, I’d just like to make a character that is bad a<s<s without being a wanna be tough person…

So have you experienced that before in roleplay? Where you think a roleplay character or someone elses is such a bad a<s<s that you are impressed?

Like I’ve seen someone do that before but I had a hunch they just made it up, made people make other characters for them to have a bad a<s<s moments… to get respect, just that one time, then there was this time where I was in this situation surrounded by like enemy rpers in an rp pvp…

I remember like writing in IC that we are surrounded, then this other rper said, “We are not surrounded, they are surrounded by me.”, or how the saying goes, that was like the coolest RP experience I’ve had.

Ehm, no td;lr, enjoy reading.

Like my RP guide on the top of my mind would be this:

  1. Find a fight club in RP or something, and win the tournament

  2. Get one of those cool nicknames, like, lets say, Strong Man or some cool name like that to be remembered by after

  3. profit

  4. Write that on your rp addon that you’ve been that, and then just RP a regular boring person, that has like this past of being in the fighting having won, and then when you get into an RP fight, you have this bad a<s<s RP history of winning that RP fighting tournament that time.

If you got a RP guide how to become a bad a<s<s in IC, go ahead

Imo just RP around what your character is about and keep at it, eventually you’ll get recognized by your circle of friends.

Don’t think there is any easy way to become a Bad :peach:

Show up for server events, play your character consistently, immerse yourself in the community and pray people remember their interactions with you.

For instance, I often remember a post on the forum long ago explaining how to play a powerful character and it was referring to a blood elf warlock, whom no one ever saw summon anything more powerful than an imp but they carried themselves in such a way you could be fooled to think they actually could be the second coming of Gul’dan.
Part of the advice boiled down to don’t say you are powerful, act like it.

Open your own bakery or a flower store. That’s guaranteed to make people fear you.

Then a friend of mine must be one of the most feared persons on the realm, since she has not only a bakery, but also sells teas and herbs.

But in all seriousness, I think it is what Marvaesh and Thuzar said. Just do what you can with your character and eventually they -may- start to recognise you. Just don’t be in it for the sole purpose of hogging all the glory, players will notice that and probably not wish to engage with you anymore, since you’re only in it to make your character look good.

Just realise that it will take time and effort for folks to recognise your character, even more to recognise them as a potentiall badass, as you put it. So put yourself out there whenever possible.

This one’s gotten tough as of late though. Not many public server events are held anymore, most are within their own communities, and of the public events that -are- held, many seem to be mostly peaceful gatherings with little opportunity for your character to do anything special but socialise. The Everstill Tournament was a welcome change.

put your theme song as Linkin Park - In the Edgy end

Keep your expectations low. Remember that in the movies you’re thinking about, the bad :peach: characters are also typically the main character or part of a central ensemble. In RP, you are playing one special character in a world populated by special characters. You want to play a character who excels in combat and is respected and feared for this, but if I take a walk around Stormwind (or any hub) I’ll easily run into a dozen tough fighters who all want to be acknowledged as such.

Best you can do is what others here have said, focus on a small group of friends, a guild or the like, and try to build a reputation within that group. Don’t expect the server at large to ever go “Ooh, ahhh, there comes (that guy), best stay out of his way!”

The key thing would be to consider what’s in it for everyone else. I’ve seen many roleplayers going for too much of a “me first” approach in trying to portray a badass character that they seem to forget that in order for others to play along, it has to be fun for them too.

The most badass characters I know are the kind that are able to pull off their shenanigans and strength in a way that’s entertaining and immersive for the other players, not just a one-sided attempt at power or a competition that bleeds to OOC. Find your audience, and figure out what you have to offer them in terms of fun interactions.

I think the concept of being a badass character relies entirely on other people’s opinions, or at least it does in the way you’ve framed it in your original post. You will unfortunately always be disappointed, as people rarely agree on anything let alone their opinions on others (for example, can you think of a sportsperson who is universally acclaimed by everyone, with no exceptions?).

What I would suggest is trying to find fulfilment in other ways. Roleplay is about meaningful interactions; a two-sided sense of mutual empowerment where you augment the experience of your roleplay partner and find a sense of satisfaction in the same. Basing your enjoyment off the way others feel about you is a sure path to burnout.

Sorry I can’t be of more help!
