Hey, this is the first expansion I’ve decided to take a profession to try and make money etc, so i went herb/alch instead of herb/mining, but the potions sell for barely anything and the mats to craft them are tons, for example, one flask costs me 1100 gold to make 2, which each sell for 180g, this is so low making pots is not worth it outside of their effects, it would be better to be herb mining and buy -posts and make tons more money…
Nobody in their right mind is buying pots or flasks atm. For what would one use them? Heroic mobs that die in the span of a couple seconds and Bosses that barely live a minute, if even ?
To top it off people are mainly interested in R3 Pots/Flasks and not R1 or R2.
The trick is to get multicraft procs. But a lot of people level professions right now and only care about Knowledge and Skill Points, not about profit. You’d probably be better off selling the herbs right now and level Alchemy later.
At the moment you won’t be making any gold from Alchemy until M+ and raiding begins.
Just stock up on herbs because you will need them and a lot of the Null Lotus.
You’re not being charged that price to craft the potion, along with your own materials. That would be highly counterproductive and if that was the case a single potion would be costing people 2k gold just to get back the costs of crafting + materials xD
Never pay attention to that gold price as most of the time it confusing. You sell potions based upon the market price of the materials of make one.
If the herbs cost say 150g to make a possible bronze star potion you sell it for say 160 to 200g. You want to make a profit from the herbs that you’ve gathered, for example. If you’re selling under the market price of the herb cost, then you’re losing money.
Overall just wait until next week and you’ll see the prices spike for flasks and food.
