Alexstrasza's eggs

So how comes Alexstrasza lays so many eggs?

Do dragons need male partners to make eggs? Or do they reproduce asexually?

And if she needs male dragons to make eggs, who is she picking? A single male or anyone she comes across?

In lore so far, that would be a yes.

There was a point in time where she was kept captive, and forced to produce eggs with a male dragon if I recall correctly.

In Day of the Dragon she is held captive by the Dragonmaw Orcs with an artifact called the Demon Soul giving them power over her and forcing her to produce offspring. Her eldest consort became sick in captivity and died fighting Deathwing. Korialstrasz helped free her and became her prime consort but he is dead now too so I have no idea who her consort is now. Guess she’s single lol.

Edit: She had another consort in captivity too but he died trying to escape over the sea

Oh what a shame.

I’ll offer myself as a sacrifice to be her consort.

I don’t think all the flight’s eggs are Alexstrasza’s, it would be hard to properly keep a diverse gene pool otherwise.

Anyway the existence of “prime consorts” suggests that there are secondary consorts to the aspects as well.
