is it just us that are bad? we are steamrolling every HM without any problems at all, but our tanks always dies at algalon around 30%, and we cant keep up with the damage (on 10 man). Any advice?
Quite hard to say not knowing anything about your strategy, setup etc. But assuming your tank(s) are decently geared and are smart with using defensives, bringing either a holy paladin or disc priest (or both) makes this boss way easier. Having a prot paladin as tank also makes things easier because of ardent defender being really good.
I guess you could say paladins are king on Algalon.
ye we do everything you said still we cant keep up with damage, usually happens around 40-30 :S
Are you running 2 healers or 3?
2 healers …
Especially on 10m there is no heavy-hitting tank boss except Algalon. Maybe you want to review what your tank is doing on that boss?
Try 3 healers, that way there’s much less pressure on them to also raid heal. 2 tank healers, one raid healer.
I’m confused to why the tank is dying in p2. Normally a tank that doesn’t get enough healing dies somewhere in p1
Maybe their cds are down in that time.
OP, post your logs and maybe we can help. There’s just too much variables and we’re not psychics
If you provide logs, I’m willing to log dive. The key to your answer lies in the depths of your logs.
saved as private logs and the forum doesnt let me copy links as well, its on the character Missotadruid if you find it that way instead, thank you though
If you don’t have access to posting links, you can do so by putting 4 empty spaces before your link on a new line, then people can just copy and paste it: as follows:

Edit: Changed to 10man as this topic is about your 10man raids.
Caster heavy comp isn’t ideal, melee have an edge on Algalon since it’s easier for them to move around without dps loss.
Tank setup isn’t great either, ideally you want a feral OT because they can do a lot of dps while they aren’t tanking and come with the added utility of being able to brezz/innervate.
Healers don’t seem to preheal tank when the stars die - possible issue of communication of the star killer, who should ideally give a count down of at least 3 sec.
People are dying to avoidable mechanics (big bang, smash) and/or not healing themselves when they’re getting smacked by dark matter.
With the setup that I’m seeing (prot pal + blood & disc + holy) you have the following CDs that can be used to avoid damage spikes on tanks: 2x dsac, 2x hand of sac, divine protection, pain supp, icebound fortitude, AMS, vampiric blood. That’s a copious amount which means tanks can keep one or two cds of choice for when they feel like they need it and you can rotate the rest for every single star explosion.
Other than that, maybe make boomy go resto since his damage seems low and 3 heal it as someone above said
BDK + prot pal is bad? My best experiences are from healing BDK+pal and BDK+war.
It’s good but in 10 man with their setup they really need to squeeze some damage wherever they can, especially if they end up 3 healing
We had yesterday a Druid Tank 5k2gs 50k HP and a Blood DK, both get destroyed by Algalon 10 man with Hpal + DP.
We had to ask at our enh shaman to respect heal.
Algalon is fast attacker and block classes (war and pal) have slight edge over bear and BDK on this fight. Also, having inspiration/AF on current tank is big boost (10% reduction). Armor aura/totem, prepoted armor pot, ES, sacred shield, demo shout/roar/curse, insect swarm/sting, BoSac/RH for 3% damage reduction… there more of these raid have the better it is for healers and tanks. Our warlock on last pull put Curse of Weakness instead CoE and it decreased average melee hits by 2k O_o
COW is the same as Vindication brought by Ret/Prot Palas, Blood DK is the only tank that can’t bring it.
Usually if the tank is well geared and is still dying, its most likely A) Healing problem, B) People dont avoid dmg, and healers have to focus on them, and then tank dies (So movement problem).
Cant be much else. Most people dont even rly rotate any raid cds in 10 mans any more since the AoE dmg is much weaker when compared to 25.
My suggesting is what the others told you, get a 3rd healer, it will make the fight a lot easier.
Option C) Tank is not paying attention.
