Hey everyone, working my way through a lot of the achievements this expansion, two of these include the [100 Algari Seekerthread] and [100 Algari Anglerthread].
From my understanding one of these threads cost 10 Derby Marks per Thread from Vendor + One free you get from the Saturday weekly quest, so you can get two a week from doing the Fishing Derby, which means this would take roughly 2 years of doing this fishing quest every Saturday.
You can also fish these Threads up from Treasure Pools on the Isle of Dorn/Azj’kahet, however the chance of finding these pools are low, the pools on the Isle of Dorn lets you have one cast in the treasure pool, and the chance of getting a Thread is still very low.
As a result I’ve spent hours flying around for Treasure Pools, and have gained no Threads as a result of this, I know the Fishing Derby quest is repeatable on alts but I’m not keen on levelling fishing up again on alts.
Is there something about this I’m missing because even getting the first 10 Threads seems like a huge milestone to achieve, 100 of each Thread is looking almost impossible.
I can’t be the only one who is curious about how silly this is?
When your fishing line is high enough, around +50 or so, I started catching the threads from the open water.
It’s now +2 threads from the Weekly.
Your alts need only be level 70 for the competition. You can buy Find Fish from the quest giver. They can fish from the pools with even a mediocre fishing skill, you just need the levels to catch cool stuff in open water. So my main can catch rare fish from open water because he’s maxed with overhead from the line, food buffs and my fishing gear, but my alts just get junk.
So, for example, I have one main who’s got everything and 7 alts that are somewhere between level 70 - 80 with fishing skills between 40 and 100 now after a few weeks of running the Derby. I’ve got +95 skill and +55 perception from drops and buying the threads with the Derby currency. I’m probably spending a good few hours on a Saturday to do this mind, you might want to spend less time, but it is definitely possible to grind this out over a few weeks.
All that said, I should clarify again, it appears the only thing that Weaverline affects is your capabilities in the open water. If you’re just pool hopping, you’ve no need for it. I’m going after it as I love sitting on WoW, in my boat, casting lines while I chat to family or watch documentaries
