I like doing delves, but I cannot understand the non-bountiful delves, you spend the same amount of time and effort, they are identical in every way, and it does not make sense to just end up with not even a chance at something.
You end up chasing restored coffer keys, which are available through some world quests, but again, it makes no sense to be going around doing world quests just to be able to then do a meaningful (bountiful) delve. Maybe the WQs are easy, maybe it is just a grind, just ticking boxes, maybe, but it is a waste of time, very contrived.
I do not understand what the designers could be thinking, to create two versions of a challenge (the delve) with the exact same difficulty level, but with vastly different rewards.
I hope they can convert all delves to bountiful in a future patch. If they want to keep the restored coffer key system, then maybe make it give you an extra chest over and above the standard epic chest.
You get crests. But yeah, 2 crests feels like not enough.
Maybe they could make regular delves more interesting and alluring to run by doubling that number, while keeping bountiful delves at 2, because youāre getting other extras?
I agree with you all Delves should be bountiful. Either that or when there is actually a bountiful delve it should also have a rare or some extra mechanic that when accomplished successfully without a death should drop an extra chest with bountiful rewards.
There should be no key required for a bountiful delve to drop an epic reward.
The reasoning is simple: in a delve the amount of time, effort, and skill required is the same, with or without a key. Therefore all delves should be made bountiful by default. If you want to have extra āspiceā then make the key, if you have it, give you an extra reward.
The above assumes the developers want to make delves interesting for those who like them.
You get a guaranteed peice of gear at the end of a bountifull Delve.
So think of it this way:
The goal of the devs is to keep you playing. If all you have to do to get the maximum gear is to do 10 delves (which take 20 min each)ā¦ in 2h of gameplay your done with Delves basically. After that, any more Delves you do are just āfor funā.
So they need to limit how much gear you can get.
For Delves its the coffer keys. For M+ its RNG. And for Raids its a weekly lockout.
What I want to say is that if you want to make all delves bountifull delves, then you have to propose the following:
(A) A way to continue to keep WQ relevant, given that you wont need to do them anymore.
(B) Replace time-gating by something else. RNG sounds fair to you ? Which means that not ALL delves will give you gear. Only maybeā¦ 1/10 of them ? Would that sound fair ?
Same logic applies to crest aquisition (Devs want you playing Delves for months). So if you want more crests, then you need to limit the ammount of gear you can actually get from Delves via RNG or whatnotā¦
The ālogicā is that devs want you to spam Delves for 2h a day every day for months. If they gave you 20 crests per delve, given that they take 10/20 min to complete then in 3 hours your fully upgraded. Couple that to guaranteed loot drops and in 2 weeks your done gearing your toon.
So some compromise and balance of gear drops + crest aquisition needs to be made.
When you do something you like, people tend to keep doing what they like. Like Netflix series. People could watch 1 episode per week and extend the pleasure over years. But instead people binge watch 4 seasons in 2 days with out sleeping.
If they make all Delves bountiful and award the same gear they are now, it would be amazing. So that means it wont happen for the following reasons:
Blizzard wants to keep you in-game and doing multiple activities, hence the keys and limits of obtainable keys per week.
If all Delves are bountiful, there will be a select few that people choose to run and the rest will be ignored as some are easier/faster to complete than others.
People who donāt enjoy Delves will complain how easy gear is to get whilst in their chosen content it is much harder to get gear.
