It would not only make more sense to be able to so, but more realistic.
In every real world scenario and with the Horde and Alliance working towards similar goals, it doesn’t make a lot sense of why some Horde/Alliance members wouldn’t have changed sides or even become mercenaries. Even for BGs you can fight for the other side.
As a main Alliance player there some Horde races I feel like playing. I have some Horde alts but for example playing in War Mode, my server is entirely favored towards Alliance. Every crate that drop is nearly always claimed by Alliance and nearly all members you’ll run into doing daillies is Alliance.
It’s annoying to play on my server on a Horde character, and while i could create a new character on another realm that swings towards the Horde it just seems like more of a bandaid of a solution. Doing any PvP quest is irrelevant in terms of faction, as weirdly all players can attach each other regardless…again, making separate factions feel like a situational allegiance anyway.
I don’t feel any sense of Allegiance towards the Alliance. The leadership is weak and it’s become very wholesome and fluffy. Regardless, there’s never been much of an impact in game based on your faction either way, so it doesnt play any role in your in-game experience.
I just think that there’s not much sense of faction allegiance or separation. In any real life scenario/war you’d have people switching sides or even fighting against their own country, a tale as old as time dating back to just about any major historical, large scale conquest by any famous leader.
There are of course going to be individuals and group’s of that race which will be against their own, for personal gain or to eliminate rivals, especially with factions/races that joined the Horde/Alliance later on, not necessarily made up of that faction.
Yeah i never understood why we dont habe traitors. We have all kinds of traitors that join other factions both sides hate. Like the bloodsail or the twilight hammer so why dont have some that join the opposite faktion.
When you think about how strong we are i dont think the alliance would not take in a strong fighter that also probably has some intell on the hord ejust cause its a troll or a tauren. Forsaken might be a bot difficult but a mercenary is a mercenary you dont need to love him
Gameplay-wise I’m all for the factions being able to work together towards a common goal but at the same time I also miss parts of the faction divide. I miss faction quest hubs and even faction specific quests.
I’d love to go back and wage war again instead of holding hands (story-wise anyway) and having traitors could maybe work.
I think they need to either go full rivalries or we are all on-board together, because right now it’s an awkward neutral relationship almost that doesn’t make any sense.
I’ve been playing since Vanilla, where the Horde and Alliance truly hated each other. We’d attack each other on sight. Now, we’re gathering resources together and generally ignoring each other in War Mode. I get attacked more by own faction in PvP areas than I do Horde. It doesn’t feel right.
So, if they’re going to make it so it doesn’t really matter or server any role, then they might as well go full throttle with it and expand the experience so that players can enjoy it for what it is.
I think it’s a missed opportunity to not internal rivalries and quarrels. Different races/factions vying for power and control, because that what would really be happening. Managing internal discourse is a huge part of maintaining power, not everyone would have the same goals or vision within the Alliance or Horde.
It would’ve been somehow plausible if alliance and horde in their current state existed for more than a century, but since warcraft 3-TWW only 23-ish or something like that years passed.
At this point, how Blizzard is trying to tear down the walls between horde and alliance, I am pretty convinced it is mainly because of WoW code.
They mentioned more than once that, because of the code, it is everything but easy to remove the factions.
I’m not sure if making an alliance/horde race playable for the opposite faction is the same as adding a new race to both factions.
Code can and will be a nasty bugger when it comes to messing around with it.
Such long list for simple equest. Both parties need to have countries when the caan live in peace and prosperity. I see you are very comfortable with this idea. But one can not have it both ways.
