Before 8.1 I had access to all spell icons from other classes (eg warrior/mage/dk spell icons), but after 8.1 only my class icons are available, then only item icons.
From Saeryn’s SS I can see he also has item icons straight after his own class icons. That’s not how it was. There is like a huge wall of spell icons gone missing.
No, my macros are still intact with the old icons (in my other toons), so the icons must be somewhere in the game as they still exist.
The issue is that I can no longer retrieve them when I try to select them and this problem appeared for the very first time with the advent of 8.1. Never had this issue before.
This is why I’m asking if I’m the only one (and it looks like I’m not), and what can be done to fix it.
Oh, I also made a ticket in regards to this and this was the answer.
Hey,
I hope you're well
Blizzard Customer Support cannot assist with user interface, key-binding, and macro, but you may find help from other players in our Forums
The dedicated WoW UI and Macro forums are:
EU: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/874706/
Beside the funny fact that they say they can’t help with this stuff even though “interface and macros” is one of the things they offer support for in the customer support panel, they even redirected me to the old forum. Very useful.
So ye, forums is now the only place where I can for help. Yes, the same EU forum that is completely ignored by blizzard the whole year. Another way to tell me to go f myself.
Yup they are gone… I was making macros for my druid after patch and i noticed i have just one page with druid spells and all the others are item icons . Before the patch u had like 20 pages of spell icons to chose from and the rest were items . There is something broken here for sure . Also i went thru the whole macro thing page by page and yeah all 20 or so pages with spell icones are gone
Also my ticket got finally answered for real and it looks like this change is intended. They pruned icons for no reason and didn’t even write about it in the patch notes. The reason was “They got removed to make it more concise”.
Another non-sensical and unwarranted change for the worst. Typical of bliz to break things that worked perfectly fine and noone complained about.
