Hello all! Hope you’re having a jolly good week!
Out of sheer curiosity, what would be your all time favourite or TOP5 all time favourite games EXCLUDING WoW.
You heard me!
If you’d be so kind as to tell us why that would be awesome too!
Edit; totally forgot to put my own!
- Metal Gear Solid
- Uncharted 2
- The Witcher 3
- Syphon Filter
- Halo 2 or Quake II

Never actually played Diablo 1 or 2 and only a brief bit of 3!
Hot Pursuit was golden.
Mario Kart & Party, because couch gaming with friends just got better.

- Anything by LucasArts (Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Day of the Tentacle, Outlaws)
- Civ 5
- Saints Row 1-3
- SSX3
- Red Alert 2
Maybe not in that order but
1 - Dark Age of Camelot, the great MMO to have ever existed
2 - Everquest - the second greatest
3 - Diablo 2 - brilliance
4 - Unreal Tournament 99 - fantastic
5 - Football Manager - sunk most hours into this
I am so sad I missed this one. A lot of people are praising that game. I know DAOC is the reason why WoW has PVP in the first place. Blizzard was very much against it, until they saw DAOC and how fun pvp is in it. A lot of people in New World are drawing comparisons to that game. I don’t know why, as I haven’t played DAOC. I love pvp MMOs, territory control, castle sieges, wars, etc. They have so much more longevity compared to pve-focused games.
Unironically one of the reasons NW isn’t ticking any box currently for me is that I am comparing it to DAoC and realising it simply isn’t anywhere near.
There is nothing I wouldn’t give to roll back the clock 20 years and go back and do it all again, simply the most fun PvP game I’ve ever experienced, the true sandbox PvP experience.
Even now, there is nothing as involving (in pvp terms) as a solid 8v8 on DAoC or a huge zerg fight over keeps.
There are private servers launching soon to deliver a classic DAoC experience plus the current curators have hinted at a new server akin to what Daybreak has done with Everquest.

If you can get over New World’s clunky combat, I think you might enjoy the PVP side of things. Lone wolf pvp is quite discouraged though, you will get griefed, as most people are running in groups. There’s a reason why this game popped off so hard and it is that it is really good pvp-focused MMO.
