Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out here in the hopes that someone — maybe even Blizzard staff — can help me understand and resolve what’s happened to my characters.
I recently returned to WoW Classic after taking a break not long after the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. I was excited to come back and get ready for Mists of Pandaria, only to discover that all of my Alliance characters had been moved from Firemaw to Gehennas, which is a completely Horde-dominated realm.
I never requested or initiated any character transfer. I wasn’t even active during the time the transfer supposedly happened, and I never received any notification or warning. I’ve opened tickets about this, but so far the responses have essentially said that this was a “system-driven migration” and that if I want to return to Firemaw, I need to pay for a character transfer.
But here’s why this feels completely unfair:
- Firemaw is still an open and extremely active realm, especially for Alliance.
- All of my friends still play there — none of them were moved.
- One of them recently returned, just like I did, and their characters are still right there on Firemaw.
- I was essentially moved from the best Alliance realm to a realm where I can’t even play my characters properly due to extreme faction imbalance.
So now I’m stuck on a realm where I can’t really participate in world content, especially worried about raiding in MOP, and questing, because I will be ganked 24/7, or enjoy the game the way I used to — and I’m being told I have to pay to fix this, even though I never asked for it in the first place, and the transfer simply doesn’t make sense.
It feels incredibly disheartening. I don’t know if I was affected by some outdated migration script, or if this was just a rare edge case, but it’s hard not to feel like I’ve been unfairly penalized for simply taking a break and returning later.
If anyone has experienced something similar — or if a Blizzard rep sees this — I would really appreciate any help or clarity. I just want to get back to the realm I chose and played on originally, with the friends and community I built memories with.
