Allied races and their reputation Immersion

Hello.

i just have a question, i’ve never Roleplayed in this game ( or any game / IRL for that matter) but, i’m just curious how does Rep gating allied races not completely break immersion ?

I farm reputation on my main character, and that someone allows me to make a new character that is a different race. but I AM my character, so to whatever faction i’ve gained the exalted rep with, i’m “Strelex the priest that guy we like alot here in zuldazar!” or whatever. but how does that tie into the New character i would then go and make of the Race that i just unlocked ?

its like some random guy in Finland Passes his motorcycle license. But that Also suddenly allows some random guy in England to Ride a motorcycle without a license.

or am i way off here, are we our entire accounts and not just THE character we play ?

There is no lore or immersion reason.

This is a purely a gameplay decision designed to add milestones and grinds to unlock the races, and makes about as much lore sense as leveling a Dwarven Paladin in Azeroth to play as a Night Elven Demon Hunter in Outland.

I’d advice you to try not to include accounts into character lore. In fact, I’d be careful about including the ingame character lore, because if you’re a veteran of raiding then you’ll essentially have been there and killed every single raid boss since vanilla, and have so many titles, heroic deeds and survived so many certain-death scenarios your character would basically be qualified to be a leader of their respective faction.
Oh, and to also mention the awkward silence that would inevitably occur if Strelex the leader of Azeroth’s priest order hall met Bob who was also the leader of Azeroth’s priest order.

To quote Uther from Heroes of the Storm, you may be thinking too much into this :brain:

Its about how you play your character, and very much your choice. Like for example, Brigante here is not racist against Darkspear Trolls, they have never been enemies of Quel’thalas (That was the Amani) and have only ever been allies, he respected, still does, Vol’jin.

However, He fought on the Isle of Thunder, he remembers warring with the Zandalari, and whilst he may grudgingly accept them into the Horde as comrades, he -is- going to have issues with them.

So really, it doesn’t matter what -you as the player- have done, it matters what -you want your character- to have done. Like, I obviously played through Argus, but did Brigante the character go to Argus? Heck no.

Don’t feel you have to tie your character into what you quest through. for example, Brigante (A Dragonhawk rider) was not doing much during Vanilla, few aerial patrols to keep the Amani in check. During TBC he was enlisted in the Shattered Sun Offensive, but that part on Azeroth, he never actually went to Outlands at the time (Obviously I did whilst questing, but the character didn’t) during WotLK he was pretty much one of the Dragonhawk riders in Icecrown, tussling with the frostwyrms. During Cata a lot more border patrols against Amani and praying that Deathwing didn’t come into the Skies, During MoP more of the same, was eventually sent there as the conflict heated up and later took part in the Darkspear Rebellion.

See what I mean, you can kind of write your own backstory using world events as the backdrop, the scenery, but you don’t have to pretend your character did the things you did. Brigante didn’t kill the Lich King with 24 other people. He never even -saw- the Lich King, apart from distantly, from like five hundred feet in the sky, for a second or two.

He neve killed Kael’thas, nor Deathwing, Kil’jaeden or Gul’dan. He was -involved- in all of those wars, sure, but he didn’t do what I as a player have done.

Just don’t claim to be the mighty person who struck the final blow on Arthas for example, and you’re good.

This is especially true with the allied races
The chances are as a member of an allied race you travelled to Argus are slim to none - not to mention the dungeons and such. Of course, depends of the race, really. Maybe you were in the strike team as a HM Tauren for the Hammer, after all, the “outlanders” never visited your mountains (except maybe some Kaldorei) so they needed a guide of two, even a whole team of natives to show them where was that cave… but as a Ren’Dorei? They probably don’t even existed
A Shal’Dorei maybe helped to liberate their city and fought in the Nighthold, but being alive is a nasty habit, and there were a lots of elves eager to run to their death… but maybe you were a heroic one and joined the assault, maybe even reached Elisande or Gul’dan. A Lightforged? Not really…
Lots of Raid and Dungeon bosses (almost every, really, till’ the start of BfA, and even then, it would require a good explanetion RP wise, what the Fel you doing there) are mostly out of the queston or the relam of possibility for a member of an allied race…
Thats not a bad thing, actually
You don’t have to be the Chosen One or the Order Hall Champion, or the Speaker of the Horde, Hero of the Alliance or basically anything… just… be yourself.
As for Thyrellas, she was and is an Arcanist and a noble of Suramar, a Quel’dorei in heart who loves the courtly games and such and not really had any problem with Elisande’s rule during the 'domed" years… and firmly belives to this day, Elisande was manipulated, like Azshara was - who, in her eyes is still their Queen, who was beloved by all, and the whole War of the Ancients was a situation that spiraled out of controll, and consider the Naga, tho quietly, still relaitves, lost brothers and admire the Queen for saving her subjects. She made a mistake with the Legion, but in her eyes, did her best to salvage the situation. The improtant thing is, she wasn’t there, so belives this things. So probalby would never cast a spell against her Queen - and RP wise, never would join the strike team that will go to the Eternal Palace of Azshara. Same with the Nighthold. In her eyes, Elsiande was manipulated and the solution would have been solved by diplomacy instead of a siege. She led them for ten millena wisely, saved them (like a certian Queen…) and even the idea of attacking her was so alien and horrible, she simply stayed behind, sobbing under the Arcan’dor, moruning the Grand Magistrix and cursing the short shighted would-be killers who went to attack her.
But she did visited Argus… simply for the sake of revenge. A noble’s wrath is a terrible thing, the Legion ruined Azshara’s empire then Elisande… so she boarded the Vindicaar, and killed on or two demon, but her help was mostly logisitical and supportive, so she never set a foot in the conservatory to face L’ura or fought against a tortured Titan. Stayed near the bases with a some heroic bodyguards. A bit like the nobles of ancient china; from their palanquins with some bodyguards, they visited the battlefields, but observed from safe distance, it was a kind of entertainment, maybe made a bet or two. She did a similar thing. After surviving in the court for thousands of years, attacking a worldsoul with arcane blasts and a few spells… just seemd silly and suicidal to her. You could say, she is a coward, and you would be right. There are servants and underlings whos job is to be brave, fight and die instead of her… :wine_glass:
Depends of the class and character, backstory and all… as a spellblade or rouge/ courtly assassin, the whole situation would have been different :smirk:
