The new character customization system is a major feature of the expansion to me and I’m pretty sure many feel the same. Ion said it himself that he knows that many people spend a lot of time customizing.
I’ve been researching and read every answer from all interviews and NO Allied races customization is confirmed. They want to focus on original races (which I hope are up to allied races so that it includes Worgen, Goblins & Pandaren). They said they will add more Death Knight skin options to all Allied races & Pandaren and that’s pretty much the only new thing ARs will get.
As a player whose main character is obviously an Allied race, I find it really dissapointing. I guess Blizzard’s answer would be “Allied races are a new feature so all current customization should still feel like something new”, but that’s not true.
The point is, I really hope AR new customization options are planned for some later patches in Shadowlands after original races recieve theirs in 9.0. We deserve the love, too. Especially everyone’s beloved Nightborne… And at the start I will probably feel like this:

“Coming in 8.3, set in a new sliver of time before Sylvanas breaks the Helm of Domination at the start of Shadowlands. You’ll still be able to play through the old experience, but it doesn’t make sense for allied races who wouldn’t have been around at that time. It will play out similar to the current allied race intro experience, with Bolvar creating a new order of Death Knights. The allied races have some new skins (and a whole lot of additional character customization is coming in Shadowlands).”

Just bloody wait. You are gonna get some stuff as well. Remember WoD? The Belfs were the last to get their upgrade and had to wait longer than the rest.

I saw that one, but it’s the only interview where it’s said like that, but in other interviews, they were specificly asked about ARs.

I think being vocal for customizations is not a bad thing.
Remember when everyone was upset with the bloodelf changes because they weren’t in the spirit of the bloodelves as we knew them? blizzard changed them and everyone liked the change.
However I do agree, people need to wait I think were 1 year away from the expansion, such stuff will surely come in time but when it does let’s not make it another nightborne situation and actually be vocal this time

Then the Worgen and Goblins would have to wait 4 years until they got their model updates.
So, I’ll be looking forward to my extra customisation in another 4 years.

It would be nice if Lightforged draenei could use regular draenei hairstyles, Nightborne elves could use Nightelf hairstyles, Void elf Blood elf hairstyles etc. + be able to use their allied race unique hairstyles as a bonus. It would give us a lot more options and I don’t see why normal hairstyles such as loose hair or ponytails need to be racial exclusive

It confirms that new death knight skins come for allied races and that overall there will be new character customization options overall. It doesn’t say anyway that those new customization options are for allied races.
I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility to add new options for existing allied races if there won’t be any new ones in Shadowlands. Revamping character customization for existing races is big enough undertaking and might not be finished before the release.

The whole paragraph is about allied races.
I agree on that and I think they’re doing it. Regular female troll on Shadowlands panel had the same hairstyle Zandalari trolls use so I think it will be the case. I can totally see Blood Elves recieving Void Elf hairstyles and vice versa.
Im just sad because, all those customization are coming and i wont change a damn thing about my main character since it looks pretty much exactly like me.

They really should change their minds on that. Not every AR needs that customisation like Void Elves who have a fair bit, but in the cases of HM Tauren and LF Draenei they have very little.

I think those features are for people who aren’t white with glowing blue eyes.

Speaking off, did you know you might be able to choose red glow if you’re blood spec? It’s amazing.

Mag’har, Void Elves, Kul Tirans, Vulpera, Dark Irons, Mechagnomes and Zandalari in my opinion all have a decent amount of customisation, just having looked at the character creation screen.
The ones I mentioned and Nightborne are pretty limited. In fact HM Tauren even lack features regular Tauren have like nose rings and fur colours. I’m hoping they’ll make exceptions for those.

I didn’t know you mained a gnome…
They don’t have more options than normal races.
“Cooler options” is not more, it is preference.
In Shadowlands they’ll suddenly have half as many, even though they’re also many people’s main avatars.

Allied races will probably get additional customization down the line. Appearantly the focus is on the core races first and foremost though.
Many of the allied races also have a fair bit more customization than the core races, be it tattooes, markings, jewelry.

Of all of these u mentioned, Void Elves don’t really have that much and will have much lower when other races get some.
