Allow us to save more souls from the Maw

So obviously anima is a more available commodity now but Redeemed Souls are still hamstringing our ability to upgrade buildings etc.

I understand that some people will say it’s needlessly complaining but it never made much sense that you could get your weekly souls, deliver them, then free more (and they would enter your soulcatcher for a buff) but these were not able to be used for buildings.

I started a new account due to my lag on EU and it reminded me of how long it takes to upgrade the buildings.

People will still need to put the work in but can there not be a catchup mechanic for this aside from just getting the soulcatcher to 20 souls with renown?

Sidenote: I kept thinking it was weird that the entire story so far is about saving souls from the maw/jailer, but we can only do our weekly cap and not save extra…

**** that, i got fed up of it after they made you go from 5 eventually to 20. Which depending on how many is doing assaults or what not in the zone, takes forever to do!

So nope, i do not agree in this. Don’t expand that grind crap even higher.

I do not understand… how did you ended up getting bottlenecked on souls rather than Anima?

A new account that I used to grind from scratch to play in a mythic guild.

I have all buildings on level 2, 20k+ anima, 5 souls.

If you start afresh at this point (and possibly like me you are grinding to get the character usable as a main) then this will be the sort of scenario you’re in for.

Er, I don’t think you understand?

Souls are only currently used for buildings, this is a catchup mechanic. You wouldn’t need to use the catchup once you’ve sorted your buildings, your own effort would be the same.

Even my alts on which I am nowadays casually farming Anima is bottlenecked on this very currency for the sanctum upgrades - and all of them have been loyal to their covenant since they made their choice.

This hasn’t been the case for me.

Just as a bit of perspective in case it could help, here is a bit more clarification on my experience.

The hunter was made 14 days ago (I believe? 30 days game token with 15 days left, made 1 hunter then made another to join this guild a day later as it wouldn’t let me xfer a new character), each week it has done:

Weekly

  • Heroic raid, Normal raid (about to get Syl down then Mythic)
  • Both world bosses
  • Torghast layer 12. I have also run somewhere around 40-50 additional times in these 2 weeks to get the ash for 2x235 legendaries
  • Capping renown, this was done within a week

Semi-Weekly

  • Covenant Assault
  • Occasional 500 anima elite world quest
  • Tormentors, I think I’ve done about 2 per week or so

Daily

  • Calling
  • Korthia, not maxing this out but doing quite a lot daily
  • Occasional Maw
  • Probably averaging at least 1 M+ per day

As I started with no renown and the quest to save the souls came up, I could only save 5 in the first week.

I think that about summarises it.

You get like 1-3k anima just from doing your daily korthia chores and some of the nests/mushrooms, how are you bottlenecked?

To anyone who doubs the op is telling the truth, you have to have the souls to upgrade your sanctum, so that you can get the increased anima rewards. If you are Nightfae you need to do the souls quest in order to get souls that you can rebirth in the Queen’s Conservatory for additional rewards including mounts, pets, and mogs.

While its easier to get anima now, you can only get the souls via that weekly quest to rescue 20 souls in the Maw, so its another bad form of timegating from Blizzard and without a catchup method.

I dislike the fact you have to collect 20 before you can hand them in and then that’s it for the week.

I would prefer a more flexible approach - either by removing the 20 per week cap and just let me collect as many souls as I want, when I want, until the 100 total souls cap is reached OR keep the 20 per week cap but let me return souls in batches I choose (i.e. I might go to the Maw because I only need 3 souls for an upgrade, but due to the current format, I have to farm an extra 17 before the quest is allowed to be handed in).

I’m only doing the Korthia chores on them until the weekly Shaping Fate is complete. And yes, I prioritise the Anima-rewarding dailies.

Yeah it should just let you fill up the cap once a week at the very least and have no quest so you can pick em as you go rather than having to do X amount or get nothing at all. Makes no sense, but then again it’s the same guys who had the brilliant idea of using farmville mechanics for your second talent tree so maybe it doesn’t have to, it just has to be punishing in some way.

Fair enough

I would hate to have to farm more. Twenty is awful as it is. I wish they’d left it at five every week.

I agree with OP on this actually.
I recently levelled my first alt this expansion and happily doing Korthia dailies. I am showered in Anima and have more than enough for the sanctum upgrades, but I cannot collect more than 20 souls pr week.

I’ve fully upgraded the sanctum on this char a long time ago, but if I need to to the same grind and waiting for souls on another as well, I am simply not going to bother. My alts sanctum is overflown with Anima already but upgrading the buildings will take me a couple of months of just… waiting.

Definitely no extra grind for those that don’t need it, I think we can all agree to that.

Have the weekly for souls/anima, have a repeatable one for just souls, no extra incentive if you’ve already upgraded everything.

My EU hunter has everything upgraded, I would hate to increase that cap.

Or leave it at one quests with a tangible reward for those who don’t need souls while those who do need them can then do an additional quest or two for 20 more souls each as a catch-up (with these quests having no reward besides the souls).

They can even change it, so that the renown “upgrades” that made it to 20 instead just open an additional blue quest that only rewards souls, keeping the original 5 for the renown catchup.

anima is no longer the bottleneck since 9.1, souls are now, so if you have a new toon and don’t have already hoarded souls for weeks, you’ll actually starve for souls now.
