Alt or New Player Catch up regarding these Time Rifts?

So I’ve only been bck in game a few days and thought I would play a mage with the new update, I got to 70 and read that the “Time Rifts” and “Dilated Time Capsules” are the new catch up system.

Cool I thought I’ll give this a go, I have done at least 20 Rifts now and I have only received 1 Time capsule from the quest I have not received anymore since, and my gear is still levelling greens due to only just getting to 70 am I bugged or is this intended to be a stupidly low drop rate because if it is I don’t think I’ll bother carrying on as I don’t have time to grind profession’s and stuff from 0 as I was under the impression the gear would be abit easier to get than this.

There appears to be abit of confusion around these items as players I have spoke to say they should drop from the rifts after killing the bosses.

Oh, I have contacted Blizz support but they were about as useful as a Chocolate teacup.

There are vendors near the questgiver, whom you can buy atleast trinkets with the currency you get from rifts.
I agree, its a yet another content with no logic…

Yeah I saw that, I’ve had a few cosmetic drops but I need gear and this system seems messed up for an apparent catch up system.

oh, I just assumed it was only 1 guarranteed each week, then a low chance from drops.
I think you have a higher chance if you have the thing that gives you a reward active… Ive gotten a chest and 2 guns so far (Im only in it for the transmog so 2 guns was abit annoying!LOL).

Pretty sure you can be gearing up through WQs quite nicely between Time Rifts tho.

From what I can gather this is how it is intended. I got one of those capsules too and bought a Veteran Chest piece. This system will be ok for me as I’ve already got some Veteran pieces from 10.1 content.
But I’ve pretty much given up on caring about gear. The last few expansions they’ve been drip-feeding us gear in non-Big-3 content. I’m still using 398 neck and cloak from Wrathion rep. Gearing is so slow now unless you’re using the Vault every week (never opened a Vault, don’t know how it works really). BFA had good gearing, the WQs gave reasonable gear (even if it was slowish to increase the item level rewards) and Benthic gear was great for alts.

At least with this system I’ll be able to target the slots and fill out my gear with a full set of Veteran gear which is good enough for me. It’ll take a month or two but meh.

The problem is that it seems to be one per account per week, so my pally alt will have to wait. Unless this is a bug, I’ve read conflicting things about this.

Im so low geared I cant even get into Raids or Heroic dungeons and im really not in the mood to spam normals to go onto heriocs to go into raids just to then move up to the latest raid, this is a bad system so far and its so broken to boot.

good . catch up gear destroy whole purpose of gearing up in first place.

there should be 0 catch up gear so people who play game feel rewarded more

Such an outdated ideal hill to die upon, this will cause the players returning to just leave sooner, Good job gate keeper.

Yeah, I don’t know how to gear apart from the Drip-Feed of RNG items from weekly events, WQs (which seem to have fewer gear rewards than usual) or rep vendors.

I guess there is crafting but I’ve not looked at that, it’s generally too expensive for me.

Yeah same, I’ve crafted some 319 pieces through tailoring but thats about it im so poor and it requires so much farming to even look at the AH, I might just stay unsubbed at least til the next expansion if I get interested again at this rate .

You dont have to craft, just order gear from crafter. Some gold shouldnt be hard to get with 500+ WQ gold reward.
With enchanted whelpling crests, you can craft 408 ilvl in every slot in one day. And whelpling crest drop from every WQ and dirt digs.

I did like 12 rifts yesterday on my paladin and got 6 items (2 trinkets 2 tokens and 2 actual gear) and I had shards (or whatever the stuff you get from the small boxes) to buy 2 other trinkets from vendor that are better than the dropped ones. Maybe I was blessed by rng god itself, or dunno, but I had quite a few items for literally 0 effort - doesn’t really take much to run the rifts, one is done in 10 mins.

I kinda like this system more than Korthia tbh as someone who comes back to the game for a couple months and leaves it for a year or so. I’m not a hardcore raider, I’m here for the story and do low mythic below 15+. So yeah, I guess I was lucky a bit yesterday

As I said I’ve done at least 20 over the last few days and I’ve literally gotten nothing but Rep and an few of the flakes, I gave up on rifts and went to Zaralek Caverns whena friend pointed me in that direction and I got alot of 402 gear from there fairly quickly, im now 386 and can do more content.

If you have whelp crests you can get 408 in every slot with crafting orders.

Make enchanted whelp crests

Then craft the regular (Non spark) crafted items with the enchanted whelp crest and a missive of your choice for a 408 item in every slot that didn’t require flightstones, letting you save them for bigger upgrades later down the line.

Besides that.

Do time rift once a week. Don’t use this item until the end of the week so you know what slot to buy with it.

Do Fyrakk assault once a week (Kill big dragon at 100% bar and open the chest)

Do researcher’s event 12/12 once a week (Check group finder around when it’s due to start to get a group)

Do the 5 heroic dungeon quest if you feel like it (It’s in a building on the west side of valdrakkan)

Do LFR wings if you want, this is the fastest way to catch back up on sparks for more crafting and you might get lucky with tier pieces.

Once you’ve done the week’s guaranteed item sources head to the catalyst and turn items from Fyrakk assaults and time rifts into tier to get your set bonuses.

I have a friend who just started the game and in 3 weeks she got to 425 equipped without doing any mythic dungeons or a raid past Lfr. She did her first normal raid yesterday and was offered a spot in a very friendly casual guild. I’m so proud
