Alternative ways around Azeroth

With reports coming in that people are planning to (or already are) camp the portal rooms in Stormwind and Orgrimmar to turn the world into zombie chaos, many players are looking for alternative ways to navigate to their favourite destinations to avoid the zombie plague.

So let’s brainstorm some ideas (for both horde and alliance) on how you can get to where you need to go without visiting the capitals.

With the weekly reset, my army of alts will be paying another visit to Nathanos (hopefully getting another weapon for the dual wielders). Instead of going to Orgrimmar then Undercity, I can take the Silvermoon portal in Dazar’alor then use the Undercity teleporter. For Alliance characters, the Warfront portal in Boralus to Arathi should still be up for a few more days to get to the Plaguelands more easily.

My priest has the Argent Tournament tabard for teleporting there for farming rares.

What alternative ways do you use or could you suggest to others? Where do you need to go? Share your ideas here!

Of course, this is a brilliant time to become best friends with a mage!

Make mages great again!

buy invis potion and sneak past zombies. ez clap

Do invisibility potions stay on when you go through portals or would you need to time it carefully so that you drink it the moment you exit the portal?

In the same way, stealth could be a zombie-avoiding tactic for druids, rogue and mages (they still have invis, yes?)

oh using portal breaks invis. thats lame

See? This event is making people bond!

I think its a win!

When in doubt - bubble it out!

Does anyone know if you use Zidormi to change Tirisfal back, can you still use the Zeppelin to Howling Fjord to get to Northrend? That could be an alternative way to get there!

A mage portal to Dalaran Crater is probably the easiest way, just make sure they give you slow fall as well

If you’re in Zandalar and want to get to Smellytown without landing in the portal room you can take a boat from the dock to the Echo Isles and then fly once you’ve crossed the ocean.

Monks should just immediately spam Karma on the first person to attempt attacking. Let them take the fall aka not going down unless one of you does as well. XD

Ah yes, the boats! There’s one for the Alliance too from Boralus to, er, somewhere, right?

Those could be used to get to the capitals while skipping the portal room, which would be good if you’re trying to get to the zeppelins or cata portals.

Is Pandaria the only continent that you can’t get to without a portal? Or is there a secret way to get there? Hmm, I used to take the ‘secret’ portal from the underwater cave at Timeless Isle to get to Gorgrond and skip the Draenor intro scenario, I wonder if it works going the other way…

I haven’t actually used the boat in Boralus ever, but there is one from Stormwind to there, so I imagine it’s the same one in reverse.

wow who’d guess, people might realize (like ten months late) that potion of deepholm exists

nooo probably not

Dark Iron Mole Machine come to think of it.

It’s an instant portal now from the zeppelin tower.

Monks can teleport there (either directly or via a portal in their Legion order hall). If you did challenge modes in MOP there was also an item that let you teleport to the vale.

why would you need another way, there are no zombies and the zombies that try to infect others get destroyed instantly by huge groups

Oh, there’s also the various rings of the Kirin Tor that allow you to teleport to Northrend Dalaran, like this one:
