Alts of a same class

Hey , fellow players!
I was wondering: do you have like 1 alt per class or do you have more than 1 alt of a same class? For example I have leveled my hunter ranger void elf fantasy like Alleria but I sooo want a Sentinel-like night elf as well! Do you think it’s silly to level 2 alts of the same class?

I can’t understand alts of the same class, I see it all the time but for me it’s boring to have alts even of the same armor type. I either want to take my Lock, Mage or Priest alt seriously. Not all three.

I have 1 of every class at 120 (well a 110 DH).

I have leveled a Warlock 4 times to max in total though. But that’s on multiple servers, today I just have 1 max level lock that I’ve played within the past year.

I have 3 paladins 2 warriors 2 preists etc for visual/faction choice purely.

I got 49 alts so you can count from that that some of them are indeed same class.

Just waiting here now @Punyelf to present her paladin army.

Having an alt on the opposite faction of the same class isn’t too bad, I guess some people do it also to play different specs exclusively on certain alts.

Not silly at all. Met a few players who have nothing but 10 paladins, 10 warriors, or 10 hunters. Have fun your way!

I have a few of the same class if they have another spec that is interesting to me. I have a bm and a mm hunter and planning on lvling a sv one. Have a destro lock and planning to lvl a demon one. This is balance but also lvling a feral druid. Have a ele and ench shaman aswell.

It depends, this is an RPG game after all so it depends on the fantasy I’m looking for. I have a male human as well as a female draenei paladins, as well as like 3-4 mages, but only one DH and one DK.

Three Rogues (one Horde)
Three Demon Hunters (one Horde)
Three Hunters (one Horde)
Three Mages (one Horde)
Three Warlocks
Two Warriors
Two Death Knights (one Horde)
Two Paladins
Two Monks

All have different specialisations (two Havoc DH, separate Factions), except the Monks - might have to make one a Tank.

Ive never understood it personally. However if you really love the class and want to play aw different races go nuts. If you enjoy it and it hurts nobody go nuts. Plus shadowlands is the best expansiom ever for multiple of the same class alts. Allows you to play your favourite class as any covenant.

That’ll be me.

priests and druids too.

I have 6 hunter alts at max level (so 7 hunters total).
Of those 1 is SV and the rest is BM.

So no I don’t think it’s silly. All my hunters have a very different vibe. The only thing they share is the pet fantasy, but other than that:

My main is a human hunter who is your basic ‘pulp adventurer/treasure hunter’ type.

My vulpera hunter has a look based on my rl dog that is no longer with me unfortunately. She has an adventurer vibe too, but more of a ‘regular person thrust into adventure’ type of thing.

My female Blood Elf hunter is a typical archer/mountaineer type archetype.

My male gnome hunter is the ‘professor/tinkerer/scientist’ on adventure with a classic ‘safari’ type look mixed with some engineering/gnome stuff. He’s my only SV hunter and uses a shovel as main weapon and has a mechanical gorilla named ‘Montgomery’.

My male void elf hunter has an other worldly vibe and his transmog his based around blue glowy looks. He has one of those blue/white wolves and a blue Dread Raven.

My Mag’Har orc hunter has a ‘wild’ Iron Horde look with fitting pets; Faultline (the iron horde clefthoof) and a Iron Horde wolf. He flies an Iron Skyreaver.

My male goblin wears their heritage armor; he’s the quintessential goblin hunter.

There’s more ideas I’d like to explore in the future, but I’m always wondering; don’t I have enough hunters yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a multitude of duplicates. Some classes I favour more than others although tbh I would have a paladin of every race if I could, but they are fairly limited.

I find an alt (or two) of the same class very handy to farm raid sets from older expansions, if you care about them.

Also, both mogs and spec flavors can differ.

I wouldn’t play my night elf priest shadow, ever.
I will only play my void elf priest as shadow.

But that’s just me.

Even though I’d consider myself a Horde main, I like to see the story on both Horde and Alliance, and I’m kinda particular with the classes I enjoy, so obviously there’s some overlap there with the classes.
I kinda love Shaman though, so I have 2 max level Shamans and an 80 something Shaman as well. There was no real reason other than I love making Shamans xD

No, it’s your game so you should play how you want and what you want

I have 4 Priests, 3 Warlocks and 3 Mages.

I love cloth casters of each elf race. (I’ve still yet to make a Void Elf Mage, but who has the time?)

Maybe if they’re both on the same server/faction I’d question whether it’s really worth it, but otherwise definitely not silly. TBC-Cata I had druids and hunters on both factions. In WoD I had monks. Now, I’m very tempted to make a vulpera monk just to do some casual levelling and earn the heritage armour, because I’ve tried most classes by now and this is the one I like most.

The only time I’d really caution against it would be if you’d said you were going to level a different spec so’s you’d learn to play both roles better. Lot of people say it, and it’s a total trap mentality because you end up doing double the work to be at the same level, or having two weaker characters instead of one strong one. Levelling teaches you nothing, and endgame is grindy AF, so you really don’t want to split your attention when a single character could do both the roles you want to learn.

But in the end, how you spend your time is up to you. If you enjoy the levelling process, if you want the different character backstories, then go for it. You play your game the way you like  Also if character backstories are your thing, an RP realm might be for you!

You pay you’re own sub fee cheif, feel free to play the game however you like  lol

I personally have all different alts with different races etc but it’s not silly IMO if it’s something you want to do.
It’s nice to see people having fun again.
