I hate to bring this up again but I have now levelled to 80, one of each class, done countless delves, all the new zones and much more, but still only ONE crackling shard…
Is this some sort of sick joke

I farmed mine by killing two rares over and over. Seemed the most efficient method. It’s not fast but it works.
On Isle of Dorn, I went back and forth between Bloodmaw and Rustul Titancap.
Their respawn time isn’t too bad and if I got really bored I just killed mobs while waiting for them to respawn.

Got mine while was farming the big bettle mount from the spiders.
Within the 3 loooong boring quests with the farm i got the shards for the bird.
A lot of the early farm methods have really bad returns, they fixed many of them.

I think I have tried every farm method going and still stuck on ONE…
Also, I have made sure there wasn’t one in the warband bank tab too
Farm rares, they have a pretty decent drop rate. I got mine in less than a week just by doing a 20min lap arround Isle of dorn every day on my main.
Recently ?
A couple of months ago, maybe just before season 2 start, something like that.

Think i am at roughly 7 or 8 shards currently they could double the drop rate chance honestly least its a little low it can drop while inside delves inside zone that drops it as well.
I levelled one character only by skinning from 70 to 80, and levelling a 2nd one again with the same means (still 77). Over 10k enemies killed in Isle of Dorn, I am at 6 shards.

Like Punyelf I farmed 2 “rares”, not the same ones though.
Half of the time I didn’t bother travel between them even, I just camped a spot and killed every 3ish mins while streaming some series. Got like 1 shard per hour on average.

I have over 30 chars (maybe more) lvl 80… Ive played countless times delves , and whole pve content , quests you name it…

Your interested just in those 4 or there is more classes you would like to try?
I got mine after a long grind of spiders in the cave. It’s not a bad idea to do this if you’re also on the Siesbarg mount quest, since it contributes to that quest as well. That said, the grind is easily the hardest of the expansion. It took weeks to finish with over a dozen groups. Some days I would grind 2-3 shards, others I’d grind no shards at all.
Unless you ‘really’ want the mount, I’d give up on it. Aluria groups have, for the most part, disbanded, and people have mostly moved on. Without the support groups of other players, the grind isn’t worth the time.

Shaman, DH, Warrior & Warlock are in my top warband that I enjoy most and play the majority of the time…
The remaining alts ( all level 80’s ) are in warbands too and are ordered by which are most fun to play but I don’t generally play them other than levelling, although it can change

Then you are incredibly lucky. From my experience most people were getting around 4-6 during the entire beetle mount questline (I only got 4).
Well i was kinda. The moment i had done the whole chain quest i was with 7 shards and the next thing i did was farm the bee mount.
So i got third while i was farming two.
Took me 5 days 8 hours non stop farm to get the bird with the other two combined.
