Am i supposed to take a sylvanas redemption arc seriously?

i actually dont see how a redemption arc can make sense.

since warcraft 3, after her death and sentenced for eternal torture as a banshee, she hated the world.
she always hated the alliance AND the horde. her only true allies were the forsaken of undercity- those who understood that to protect themselves, they cant trust the living.

now you want to tell me sylvanas suddenly had a change of heart ? give me a break.

a character like her can only be stopped with a beheading (or however you kill a banshee).

You will love Sylvanas and accept her as your true God or else.

Signed. Blizzard storytelling.

Why do you presume she gets a redemption arc?

I mean, if you yourself reason that it doesn’t make sense, then why do you jump to the conclusion that it will happen?

I don’t follow the logic.

You base this confidence on what exactly?

Her eyes turned back to normal, so… :man_shrugging:

what happens with her since shadowlands release.
the storyline is basically a “sylvanas changes”.

How does that give her absolution for what she has done?

I still don’t see wherein the redemption clue lies. Can you elaborate?

Well the jailer orchestrated this through Mue’zala , now she is no longer useful for the jailer and he set her free .

Blizzard don’t really conform to that all the time.

For example, then Illidan’s eyes became fel green, but his story is very much one of vindication.

The Blood Elves’ get golden eyes after the restoration of The Sunwell. That’s not a tale of redemption, but one of salvation.

Hellscream’s eyes go from demonic red to normal. That was very much a tale of redemption.

Where does the confidence come from that Sylvanas’ eyes changing back to blue is an indication that Blizzard are telling a redemption story and not something else?

there are body changes (eyes) but its not just that. its also the way she speaks and acts.
throughout the boreghast chain quest, and chain of domination, her appearances were filled with remorse.

its obvious its coming. its just not believable at all.

Sylvanas was killed by the SCOURGE, not the Alliance… why would she hate the Alliance PRE-death?
It’s understandable to have a fear of anything or anyone that didn’t stay dead wandering around…

Eyes are the reflection of the soul. A change in someone’s eyes is definitively not an trivial thing in any storytelling.

Last time she had blue eyes was when she was a good girl.

she was a racist elf.

BUT its not that. since wow vanilla, both old website description of the forsaken and the opening cinematic and quest lines. she hates the alliance and the horde and the lich king and the scarlet crusade and everything that does not live or connected directly with undercity.

IF Sylvanas returns as a living being, it’s likely that it’ll be as a reincarnated “High Elf”.

Heh, I kinda disagree. It’s believable that she’s feeling remorse and gets a redemption arc, tbh.
What’s total bullshido however is how she found an ally in daddy zoval without ever realizing that he was the very cause of her suffering since the very start, despite him having told her very clearly.

She’s slow or something ?

Was that before or after Arthas/The Lich King killed her…? As I recall, she died during the retreat to Silvermoon, defending it from a Scourge attack…

When Zovaal “returned something stolen from him” to her, my impression was that he gave her back the part of her soul that Frostmourne took from her.
