Chen Stormstout assisted the Horde back in Warcraft III the real WC OG players knows that Pandaren way before “Kung-Fu Panda Memes” has existed.
I mean once Chen was done assisting Thrall’s Horde in Warcraft III Together with Rexxar he returned back to Pandaria and told the tales of the Horde to his kin because that is what Pandaren do.
It’s also said that Blizzard planned to give the Horde the Pandaren race back in TBC and The Alliance the Blood Elves. However it was dismissed, and they instead went with BE to Horde (Only Rumors so nothing I can comfirm).
So essentially from a Lore view the Pandaren in my opinion really fits in the Horde RP/Lorewise as much as Mok’nathal
They’re my favourite race that I don’t often play, but when I’m burned out on Wow I log onto my horde pandaren monk and just explore Pandaria, and suddenly I remember why I love Wow.
They belong in both horde and alliance, they believe in both factions’ best ideals and motivations, they don’t join because it’s picking a side, they join to try to guide them on the right path.
The pandaren reveal trailer was the most disliked video on their youtube channel for quite a while. I think Sylvanas her raid cinematic knocked it off the top spot.
I don’t blame you for thinking that, they could’ve been a bit toned down on the overweight like the female Models or like the Emperor Cinematic. However I still like the race since Warcraft III
I love them, but I think Pandaria as a concept was … mismarketed.
There was real darkness in Mists of Pandaria but the trailer portrayed the Pandaren as happy-go-lucky-no-problems-here and I think that soured it when people were expecting the next Lich King or Deathwing.
If the marketing said there’s a land shrouded in superstition because it’s hiding from an Old God then I think things might have been different. Ah well.
Pandaren are awesome, big body but truly lightweight moves/jumps and amazing animations! My favorite thing is the ninja step they use to run with increased speed effects!
