Hello, we are all aware of the driver issues concerning amd 7900xt cards and crashing in dx12 (not the long launch but the crashing and driver timeout in game). this has popped up since 10.2 and since the new tier has made the game unplayable in dx12. (raids and keys crashes on every pull or boss).
The solution has been for a while to run the game in dx11, at the cost of severe performance drops. Now this has been a crutch for the past month but today in a key my driver crashed like it did in dx12.
I really hope this was a one time thing, and i would mostly like to get a response from blizzard about this. Is a fix coming? Do i need to buy an nvidia gpu to play this game correctly?
It’s not just 7900 cards. Plenty of posts regarding 7800 XT cards too. I own a 7800 XT and I’ve had two TDRs in DX11 too. Blizzard is just refusing to communicate anything about the issue it seems. 10.2.5 seems to have made things better for DX12 but we don’t know what the issue was, who it affected or why it did. At this point I’m just waiting for AMD’s next driver release to fix things. If not, I’m reselling the card and going back to NVIDIA. It’s just not worth the many hours I’ve spent troubleshooting the thing to keep hoping it will eventually get fixed.
The issue existed since before expansion, i would litterally spam the hell out of AMD bug report tool about this issue and they likely still ignore it, when AMD thinks its a Blizzard issue they will ignore it, and Blizzard ignores it cos they think its an AMD issue probably.
The freezing with wow dx12 btw is it compiling shaders probably cos it only happens the first time.
edit: anyway when Blizzard resolves the issue with or without AMD help, and they compensate me this is when i come back not before that, no one enjoys leveling a bunch of characters and then randomly locking up system once or multiple times a day having to force restart, while being able to play multiple different games without issue.
