“Yours to give; the wealth. Ours to carry; the consequence. Bled by the Freeguard, All for the Freeguard.”
Who are we?
The Freeguard, currently a band of oathbreakers and turncoats with a sordid history, have united to sell their blades to any benefactor or patron that would hire them for tasks and quests best left unmentioned.
Disgraced and armed to the teeth the founders came to terms with the fact that even the downtrodden must eat to survive and eventually flourish.
What do we do?
Essentially, the Freeguard is a sell-sword company focused on taking the grimy and terrible jobs no self-respecting mercenary or romanticized hedge-knight would ever take on.
Do you need a retired, decorated war hero answer for the atrocities they committed during any of the previous wars?
Is that plot of land in Westfall with a farmer’s family living on it in the way for the mining town you desperately need to establish? Did an innocuous youth steal the heart of your daughter?
The Freeguard do not ask questions or contemplate the morals of their actions. We instead help your issues, grudges and adversaries go away in a gory mess or without a trace.
With no sense of morals or personal convictions, whether hired by the Horde, Alliance or neutral parties, the Freeguard can be contracted.
After all, beggars can’t be choosers. When a shady individual in an alleyway offers just enough coin to afford stew for the whole company with actual potato starch as a thickener rather than sawdust it will not matter if the Freeguard had to throw an old lady down the well for it.
Main RP hub/Core RP Scenes
If a contract or other engagements calls for the Freeguard to enjoy a lengthy, humid stay in the jungles of Stranglethorn, a dusty venture to Kalimdor, or hunting a rare type of walrus into extinction in Northrend for a rich collector, the Freeguard will go there.
Beyond that, the guild seeks to also mingle in popular RP hubs whenever possible to expanding our network of contacts and engage in social RP. Similarly we would linger at the hot spots of RP-PvP skirmishes and battles, looking for fresh blood or to offer our notorious services to the highest bidder.
In-Character Identity
The nature of the Freeguard’s usual line of work requires a particular skillset above and beyond a capacity to forfeit morals. Toughness, ruthlessness, endurance and a strength of character and physique are all sought after by the company, but these are also built upon and sustained with the way the Freeguard’s members are expected to live. Minimalism, living in harsh conditions and being paid enough for bare necessities shape our mercenaries to be able to not only endure but flourish in extreme conditions and persevere against all odds.
The more avaricious prospects might ask: If you only pay your members just enough to make ends meet, where does the rest of the bounties and rewards go? The Freeguard’s leadership keep this a secret and discourage everyone from asking too many questions. Some even say it’s all in a secret vault, ready to be opened on the grand final payday when the company is disbanded and everyone gets the riches they deserve. Others believe it’s used to buy secretly cursed weapons and armor, which are then “rewarded” to the more inquisitive or obnoxious mercenaries within the company, ready to end their lives if they become too much of a problem.
Contact – Hiring – Joining
While the guild’s ideals and themes lend themselves more to a low fantasy aesthetic and agenda we do not have a restriction on race or class. We will accept any application and we will evaluate and judge everyone equally as long as they abide by the guild’s core concept of being hardened, immoral mercenaries.
Whether you wish to contact us regarding recruitment or to offer possible contracts from your character or the group you are part of and find the Freeguard the right group of immoral dregs to carry out them out, kindly contact one of our respective core members in-game, Battlenet and on Discord:
