Ancient Teachings of the Monastery baited me

Just need to vent a bit.
Sorry for poor grammar, I hope you get what i´m trying to say.

So i just made my Ancient Teachings of the Monastery Legendary and was really pissed when i learned that it wont heal me. I was kinda baited into thinking this would help me do Solo content (5-mans and raids too ofc) by letting me heal myself while doing dmg.

Let me explain!
Normally i can only pull 1-3 mobs without dying but then i also need to stop and heal every 5 secs. i thought this Legendary would allow me to do dmg so i could heal myself a bit… So i go about 15 sec before i needed to really heal myself.

I was baited thanks to the tool tip
After casting Essence Font, your Tiger Palm, Blackout Kick, and Rising Sun Kick heal an injured ally within 20 yards for 250% of the damage done. Lasts 15 sec.
Here we can see (injured ally) Normally when it says (Ally) that would include you,

Take Prayer of Mending

Places a ward on an ally that heals them for (61% of Spell power) the next time they take damage, and then jumps to another ally within 20 yds. Jumps up to 5 times and lasts 30 sec after each jump.
“jumps to another ally” this Ally can be the priest that cast the spell in the first place.

Renewing Mist

If Renewing Mist heals a target past maximum health, it will travel to another injured ally within 20 yds.
We can see (it will travel to another injured ally) again it can target the monk that cast it.

So my question is: Why wont Ancient Teachings of the Monastery heal me when every other spell with the injured ally works just fine.

Is this a bug ?
Is it just bad tool tip ?
Is it gonna be changed ?

I know this is just a small thing, Nit picking if you will.
I do feel like it should heal the monk too. If not then change the tool tip before more people get the wrong idea like i did.

EDIT: It seems to work now. I dont know if they change anything or it was just bug with my character. But i can now confirm that it does heal the monk. You need to channel it for about 3 second to get the buff when i did it before i instantly got the buff.

I’ve read posts that contradict one another. one says you only gain the buff if you fully channel essence font, while wowhead says you gain it at channel start.
I’d love to test it out but legs are not “experimentation friendly” currently

WoWhead mentioned you get the buff if you finish the cast. but I’m not sure how it interacts with interrupting the cast.

This is Eminence reimagined. Instead of a passive buff that allows our damage dealing abilities to heal, you now need to activate a buff by first casting Essence Font. One nice change is that the buff from Ancient Teachings of the Monastery is not triggered until you finish your Essence Font cast. This allows you to have full use of the buff if needed.

I bought the item because I was curious. even if you interrupt the channel you still get the full 15 second buff, making this a viable item for M+ since you don’t need to worry about ppl dying while channeling.
whether it outperforms tear of morning is another question, but it’s definitely fun to play

You gain the buff after Interrupt the Cast .
Works fine and ist fun to Play
The only Problem is, ist heals only one Person and it is no smartheal…

That’s my biggest gripe. If it would target the lowest health (%) player, it’d be solid. But in M+, assuming nobody is at full health, there’s an 80% chance it will top up someone who’s not in danger instead of targeting the player who’s about to die.

Sadly, I just can’t justify it for dungeons unless that changes.

For raids… maybe. You have other healers, they will be targeting their spells directly, and it is more permissible for a monk to be firing ‘blind’ group heals. Most of the time in a raid, it won’t even top people off, and will thus max out its potential. Although some encounters are more melee-friendly than others, and I’m packing 2 alternative legendaries to switch to on demand.

This or it hits 2-3 people…
i mean i love the playstyle of beeing active in the fight.
In normal raid and low keys (till 8) i had no probs healing with it.
Didnt test higher.
But for PVP… man i would love to play it, i tried it, but its not worthy…
one cc and its over…
so back to hide and quick soothing mist :slight_smile:
would love to see some changes here

Blizzard spell explanations… i think it s even worse than “your attacks have chance to do additional damage” instead of “X% chance”
