Anduin and the Alliance

So where this 9.1 Anduin Story Arc is concerned, to my mind (and feel free to disagree with me here) - there are 4 directions this story could take and make a medium of sense. Very basically here are my thoughts:

  1. In the later part of Shadowlands - we kill the Jailer and thus break the “bond” between Anduin and the Jailer, thus freeing Anduin (most likely) - POTENTIALLY with the assistance of Sylvanas depending on how the story arc with her plays out after we’ve defeated her (remember just because we’re fighting her doesn’t mean we’re killing her)
  2. We fight both the Jailer and Anduin and kill them both (VERY unlikely I fancy)
  3. Anduin (potentially with our assistance or Sylvanas’) somehow manages to break free himself (we have already seen Anduin in the latest cinematic briefly break free before the armor took hold of his mind once again) and thus is instrumental in taking down the Jailer (possible but not as likely)
  4. We kill the Jailer, the bond is broken and Anduin freed from the Jailer but still corrupted by the armor becomes like Arthas and begins his own story arc as an even greater threat than either Arthas or the Jailer taking us into 10.0. (Could be fun! But I doubt it).

Just my two cents on how this could potentially play out - we’ll find out for sure in time, but its fun to theorise isn’t it? :smiley:

obv they have to tag along with the jailer for now but they will go against him… you can see it a mile off

There are a lot of potential outcomes. Obviously I would prefers some over the others. Let’s see about your thoughts:

  1. That’s possible, but personally I would consider that very unsatisfying. This will reduce Anduin to a victim, to a weak mind that needs the players to free him. As for the banshee: I cannot imagine a storyline where the banshee is defeated and Tyrande lets the banshee live after what she’s done. Unless the Night Warrior issue does something unpleasant.
  2. Very unlikely indeed.
  3. Bolvar was able to resist, possibly because of the power boost from those dragon flames. A character with a strong connection to the Light and a bit of Void should be able to free himself in my mind.
  4. Arthas 2.0. I consider that very possible, at least for a while. Blizz sure does tend to reuse story elements. Unlike Arthas it would be great if Anduin could break free at some point.

Another option is anduin going jekyll and hide. We kill the jailor but part of his soul/being stays in anduin. And he has 2 forms like sylvanas and her banshee form. The goody goody holy noble king, with a sinster darker side that makes appearances.

Would be pretty cool and make for a good story arc (think of naruto with 9 tales inside that occasionaly comes out, both sides fighting against each other. Or ichigo from bleach with his inner hollow). And about Anduin trying to expel the darker side, but ends up embracing it to become a holy/death hybrid. Making him more grittier and hardened with a nice power boost.

… with some Void added to the mix. Sounds a bit too powerful. But it’s possible I guess. This would match the split souls idea as with Uther.

I think goody characters can be cool if made right. That wasn’t Blizz’s strong side with Anduin so far though. The kid is just being pushed around most of the time. With the power boost you mentioned it might change though.

I believe people are a bit too closed off rather than thinking of other possibilities.

Sure, Anduin is NOW evil, but that wasn’t Anduin doing the kill, after all… he was a good VESSEL, y’know a literal body suit for someone like the Jailer to use.

If you (or anyone) noticed, the moment Anduin broke free from control for those mere 2 seconds, the armor started to glow and, boom, the Jailer is back in control. So in a sense, Anduin is NOT evil, he’s just being controlled.

Second part, I theorize that what Sylvanas meant with “Join us willingly or be made to serve.”, is her way of saying, “If you join us willingly, you will still be saved and all of this in the Maw will be stopped… Or have my boss come to this room, kill you, ressurect you and then there will be no salvation for you, me or anyone.”.

Now, people can go “Nope, she wants to make Anduin evil, 100% confirmed, no motives, bad story writting, blah blah blah, everything black and white.”, but even I wouldn’t accept their view because it’s too dang narrow that I can’t see the end of it, now add some color to the scheme and maybe, you open a whole new possibility of what it can be.

So for now, Anduin is serving the Jailer… WILLINGLY… for his sake and Sylvanas’s sake, he’s at least ALIVE and not undead, break the armor and he’s free, saved. Sylvanas will still count for her consequences, but that’ll come in due time. Be it early, later or even never.

Please, feel free to agree to disagree I don’t mind, but don’t come with the whole “Sylvanas fanboi detected”, because I love those types of people that defends Tyrandes genocide spree for Magic users… Or Maiev’s culling… How about Jainas rage in Dalaran…? I’m sure those were fine… Right? :smirk:

That last part wasn’t directed you OP, this was more directed at those with too narrow of a mind :smile:

I’m sure golden boi will be fine the God Emperor of the Wrynn alliance and humanity won’t drop that easily you’ll have to suffer him for ages to come

advin isa dungon boss in 9.1.0 just cut of his head no redomsion story needed
and alot of blood animation so itis more enjoyable

That is where you are wrong my little blood elve without the peacefull king with Alleria’s grudge and the way she was poorly treated by your people aswell as her natural talent and Turalyon on lead we can finally except to start another war against the horde hopefully,you get lucky and it fall on Silver moon !

My plan to eradicate your people continue, I can hear lord Garithos voice after the undead kill all the elves ! xD

The voice whisper your name :slight_smile: and those of your people, the undead orcs and trolls is a good start but quite not enough it is lacking something, kill the elves, we will do as Tyrande command now that Anduin is gone !

You don’t sound like one. And even if you were, I’m fine with talking to you. Wanna know why? Because you’re open minded for what others have to say instead of ignoring it and repeating slogans that make no sense.

As for your idea with Anduin having a plan and playing along. We didn’t see how exactly Anduin got the armor and the blade. Therefore technically there might be more than the eye can see. What supports your idea is that Anduin’s looked completely normal before he attacked the Archon. He probably wouldn’t if he was killed and raised beforehand. On the other hand the Anduin I know wouldn’t attack the Archon. So ye, complicated. :slight_smile:
