Anduin and the Void/Death

Ilgynoth’s whisper says that the Boy King serves at the master’s table. We know he is capable of using the Void , as he has done before, and he has a big connection with the Light as well.

During Shadows Rising, when he speaks to Sira, she is not surprised when he taps into the shadow but what is this shadow? Jailer stuff or void stuff?

We know he is being held in the Maw, he’s the only one Sylvanas visits personally and we know there will be a cinematic or cutscene where his model will be changed.
Do you think this will reflect a void elf- like transformation where he’ll escape the Maw through the intervention of Xal’atath or a void being, or do you think he will understand the Jailer and actually be changed through powers of Death?

What “master” does Ilgynoth speak of?
What do you think?

There is an insane amount of speculations over the internet for what ilgy says.
Now, dont be surprised if his “prophecies” come true in 6 years from now, i dont expect anything as soon as shadowlands.

I think they heard the criticism that Anduin was too much of a boring nice guy, and they’re doing everything that the cat ladies in charge of the story can think of to make him interesting: Turn him into a sad sexy vampire boy.

Hard to say. The “magic” that Sylvanas used against Saurfang is supposedly not known, yet it looks like shadow. Also, when N’Zoth revived Azshara his tentacle looked like the “banshee” form of Sylvanas in siege of Undercity. [not to mention how many abilities and places related to Argus look to me exactly like anima abilities from Revendreth]

:kissing_heart:

Her fate is no longer tied to N’Zoth, so probably not.

Depends on what the Jailer wanted. We have next to no knowledge other than the similarity of the Maw (maybe Torghast) that sucks everything into it and the story about the void lord from K’aresh who was absorbing everything just to sustain it’s presence in reality. Which may mean something. Or nothing.

Could be the same as Xal’atath

This one is old, but still not one of the first. These creatures were too hungry for magic to obey our masters, though they still prove useful from time to time. (at Glazer)

I long for the day our masters can truly pass into this realm. You have only seen fragments, shadows; the faintest of echoes. Ask the Ethereals what one of these manifestations are capable of. (at Star Augur Etraeus)

But there is a speculation that either Xal’atath or Il’gynoth could be the agent among the Void. (or Locus Walker)

I think that there is too little info and a bunch of whispers can fit many roles. I guess we’ll know for sure only once it happens.

IMO just like Anduin “brought back” Calia, she might drag him back from turning into something else. And Arthas also should fit somewhere into this story. So, who really knows.

I don’t want to be negative, but I’ve a feeling that the writers are going to utterly ruin Anduin. They’re good at swinging the pendulum drastically.

Blizzard writers are good at noticing a character who’s become popular through actually good writing or presentation, then immediately ruining them the moment they put them in the forefront of the lore.

The magic Anduin calls upon is most definitely Void and not Death/shadow stuff.
He is afterall most probably the child of Light and Shadow it makes perfect sense.

I am all for making him go a little crazy and the shadowlands are a good opportunity.

SPOILERS: None of the above as it is confirmed to be the only one still in Torghast as we left him behind cause Saving Jaina, Thrall and Baine took all Bolvar had really and we just leave Anduin Behind.

I believe it more likely he snaps out and goes full out Void on everyone and allowing the Void Access to the Death realm somehow hence “serves at the Masters table”.

By the time we return to Azeroth Tyralyon will have fked up everything anyway going fanatic, so Anduin can still return as the “good guy” and we can have an Alliance schism this time, where the Horde will help return Anduin to power.

That idea is interesting but even if he went full void on everyone, who would be there to help him return to himself?

Would be then be a priest of both light and void?

Discipline?

Hard to say. Velen used to help him with the Light before. Maybe Calia? He helped to bring her back. Maybe she could return the favour.

It’s worth noting that the Void’s prophecies are not absolute. The Void sees the thousand truths, which is to say, it can see every possible timeline. Unfortunately, it also sees all of these timelines as being simultaneously true. Yes, this is utterly impossible, and that is why everyone who sides with the Void goes absolutely barmy unless they’re very careful.

Everything Illgynoth whispers CAN happen. It doesn’t mean it will.

The ones delivered ingame are in almost every case, Blizzards mouthpiece to hint at future plots.
Yes, this is some meta knowledge, but still, it is what it is.

Just a minor note.

Here is another source:

The Tempest Crown:
It is no mere coincidence that our paths intersect. You were meant to find me. I was meant to find you.

Twist the Knife:
Here we are. Do not be afraid. This was always meant to be.

in Netherlight Temple:
I know the naaru consider us horrors to be resisted. We do not share this view. They are merely beloved brethren that lost the true path. They will return to their masters… in time.

So, it’s up to you to decide who to trust.
:innocent:

Bonus.

at Locus-Walker:
He flaunts his defiance of the shadows. Arrogance will be his undoing.

Note: Trusting Xal’atath is not wise.

Trusting either of them isn’t.

I mean, the Void is kind of a poisoned chalice of wisdom. If you take the barest sip, you can get some incredible insight. Any more than that, and you’re lost.

Xal’atath (Broken Shore):
Your allies consider me a bad influence. Yet all I’ve ever done is speed you along the path you chose.
