I was thinking about counter arguments for Arctur’s post, but I did not find any…
A brilliant post again, and I agree that Anduin truly is genius. He has done so much for Azeroth, even as a kid. I was particularly impressed by how well he was able to survive when he was stranded, alone, in Pandaria. He has played an enormous role there, without the help of anyone such as his father.
I have to admit that I’d like to see more of Anduin’s inexperience… while he is wise beyond his years, he is still young and should make a mistake now and then.
Yes? It´s as if he considered replying to me a chore that I am forcing him to do, which it isn´t. If you´re going to bother replying sseriously to someone else, at least spare yourself snarky remarks such as “Ok I´ll bite”, which serve only to denigrate me.
Oh, and where did I beg them to do that?
I don´t care if people ignore my thread. I know that this forum despises Anduin. I was ready to be chastised for praising him for once. But guess what? I don´t care. I love Anduin as a character, and it is time to put an end to this idea that he is a dumb kid who knows nothing about war and politics.
you threaten him with being flagged.
Which I never did.

Of course, How could I forget about that. The ability to get by in a Dangerous uncharted new island shows great adaptation and survival skills, as well as his ability to mind control Others means that he is able to delve in the Shadow as well (as the official artwork of the character even shows), which again is proof of his Genius as a Priest. It is rare to see a Priest who is able to use both the Light and the Shadow. Velen has never used the Shadows.
I wonder where he learned these type of spells. I assume he was trained by the priests of the Cathedral? They certainly did not teach him to use the Shadows… perhaps he even figured it out on his own?
Not to mention that he also has a strong mind, being able to use the powers of the Void without being corrupted, unlike the experienced Archbishop Benedictus.
The boy literally taunted for a debate in a cocky arrogant way… TWICE and when it happened he Ree’d I don’t understand. I love debating when it’s friendly, hence why I avoid debating Arctur in a serious way.
I’m really not sure if I understand this game. Does it count as a win for Arctur if people take him as stupid instead of trolling? Or is the goal to provoke the most ridiculous discussion that can be arranged?
I suppose that Benedictus proves that even a pious man like Anduin can fall prey to the whispers. Even so, Anduin has delved into the Shadows before and resisted the whispers, and he doesn´t seem corrupted or anything of the sort to me.
But have we ever seen a Priest character using both the Light and the Shadow before? I don´t think so.
Thankfully Anduin is surrounded by trustworthy advisors who may save him from the temptations of the Void should the unthinkable happen.
Actually, Anduin started using the Shadows during Mists of Pandaria. So he has had the capability to dual wield the Light and Shadow since he was 15/16 years old. Whereas Tyrande only just recently started using both the Light and the Shadows, and she is 10.000+ years old.
Either Anduin is a Genius when it comes to the general art of wielding cosmic forces, or Tyrande is obnoxiously lazy. Probably both.
basic mind control
As basic as it may be, I certainly never saw Velen, Moira or Tyrande use it.
In the game, Yes. But in the lore, have we ever seen an instance of a Priest (Faol, Velen, Moira…) using both the Light and the Shadows?
Anduin’s bones have been mended by the Holy Light, so I assume he is not able to use the Void anymore…
He should still be able to do so. It´s not like his brain was damaged. But, given the fact that he is extensively infused with the Light, it would provoke him way too much pain.
It´s a shame, that Anduin had to give up his potential in the Shadows because of his health. I suppose that this shows that Anduin is not a Mary Sue after all, otherwise he would just be able to use the Shadows and ignore the pain because plot.
One down side does not stop him being considered a Mary Sue. He has many other sue points not countered by decent meaningful drawbacks to his personality and characterisation.
Hopefully this last post of mine didn´t almost make you throw up.
Regardless of whether he is a Mary Sue or not, It cannot be denied that he has proven to be much more charismatic, qualified and resourceful than people give him credit for.
