Just reactivated my sub, figured that Dragonflight looked promising so i decided to start getting my 3 characters caught up in Shadowlands. Mianly for the transmog sets so i dont need to go back and grind during the next expansion.
My Monk, DK and Paladin are all at Renown 40, i dont have flying or mounting in the maw apart from the corridor creeper. My monk is the only char with sanctum upgrades with 2 no. at level 2 and the rest at level 1. I havent dont any of the 9.1.5 or 9.2 content.
My main issue is the anima grind, renown seems to be fine now but the anima grind just sucks. Ive done all the big dailys and just got 1k anima. Surely i must be doing something wrong? This feels like an absolute chore and im really not enjoying it.
I have no problem with grinds but I dont know, maybe its the world quests or the crap amount of anima that drops but its just horrible.
As stated above, Korthia and Zereth Mortis award far more anima… and get your renown up. Double Anima for elite WQs is nice too.
You need to talk with Bolvar in oribos, probably. He will send you to a battle in Ardenweald, from there you follow the quest line to Korthia.
PS: Also… I wouldn’t waste any anima on sanctum upgrades. You don’t really need them anymore, apart from the portal to Oribos (transport system) maybe. Keep your anima for 226 gear tokens (500 anima each) in Zereth Mortis (although if you have more gold than anima, getting 229 gear from the AH sould work nicely, too).
If you are after the transmogs you’ll want to farm grateful offerings. Increasing the level of the anima conductor gets you more offerings for each ‘calling’ quest done. So I would increase the level of that at the start of your grinding.
The rare Mother Phestis in ZM gives you plenty of anima if you are willing to do a really boring grind. I got roughly 3k anima for requeuing this rare in less than 1 hour. Korthia is also a good location to grind some anima, although its pretty dead now.
World Bosses give you 500 Anima each. There are 3 currently, you can check the map for their locations.
Oh well, in my experience it’s enough to have that one on rank one or two max… until you’ve gathered enough anima to buy the mog, you’ll also have the necessary offerings from doing Callings and the lower rank extra rares / treasures.
Just farm Zereth Moris chests and you’ll swim in anima. You’ll also get Cosmic Flux by that which you need for higher lvl legendaries and to make tier set items at the creation catalyst.
As a Monk you’d have the easiest time grinding anima. at 240~245 item level you are able to clear Torghast Layer 16 (with upgraded codex), and push into Adamant Vault in your runs.
This nets you 14x35 (for the initial Torghast Layer 16) and 18x35 for Adamant Vaults.
It’s roughly 25-30 mins for that output with 240 ilvl.
It just goes faster and faster the more comfortable you get with your Monk too. But my God it’s mind numbing. It’s probably one of the faster ways to grind anima once you get the timing down to 15-20 min/run.
For more variety Zereth Mortis does the job just fine. Fly around and pick up chests and kill rares.
