Would it be possible for blizz to just… give us more animations? The ones in BFA specifically - acting drunk, leaning against a wall, crossing your arms across your chest, etc etc.
I can’t see a negative for doing this… Only a massive positive from the RP community. Using wow for RP is in general quite lackluster… giving us more expression mechanisms would greatly increase the quality imho.
As they already exist and are rigged to playable models it’s relatively easy to implement into the emote menu. The problem here is that they probably aren’t rigged for all the playable races. We see them used by humans, kul tirans, zandalari and forsaken but not tauren, pandaren and so on. As animations go, they’re an incomplete rig that would take time and money to implement beyond the limited scope that they’re currently being used.
I’m not saying it won’t ever happen but I think that we all know that a lot with WoW is made via the path of least resistance and a lot still needs doing with the allied races. Us poor warlocks still lack an idle casting animation.
If they can get away with never giving this to players, players will never have it. My hypothesis is contingent on the current trends holding and the current dev team being in charge with activision’s top down marketing iron fist directing the future of the game. Things might change radically when WoW is near its end and every ounce of fanservice and catering is indulged to retain the playerbase. Or, if Blizzard detaches as a dev studio and doesn’t collapse in the process.
In summary; no new animations for me and thee unless something dramatic happens with the game and the people working on it. The implementation being trivial means almost nothing.
Perhaps with the subs dropping and criticism heating up (to the point of over exaggeration even imo), they’ll move a finger and do the trivial stuff at least… ehh.
