In the chapter where Anduin is in the Cathedral of Light, after a service, Bishop Arthur is described to be garbed in “cream, black, and gold”. Now, aside from the fact that this description’s onscurity is funny because the image that it generates in my mind is a naked man smeared in cream, there is a detail, a disturbing detail, that goes unnoticed: Arthur wears white vestments in the game, not “cream”, not any of its shades, but for some reason, Roux seems to be avoiding the use of the word “white”. Wonder why .
I’m not an expert, but maybe because cream colour is different from white? Nice theory anyway.
Even to me, who doesn’t like race and gender politics, this seems like you are just fishing for controversies. Not much different than the other side of the spectrum.
WTF is that? I’m looking at this since 1 minute and i don’t see any sense in it
Actually there was a compilation of tweets spliced together from Miss Rouex that very clearly showed her disdain for white men. It’s in the “Got 2 week ban” thread.
They are reaching, kinda like OP…
I know but i specifically googled “cream colour” and it is not white, so why she should use bad colour naming in that book? If something is black she shouldn’t call it black and rather grey to not be seen as racist? i don’t really know.
Arbiter is funniest tho thx for clarification
Look at who wrote it, the author is a racist, what did you expect?
Her promotion in Activision ranks.
My wild guess.
As I don’t feel like making a new thread I’ll use this one to say:
Shadow Rising is a pain to read. My my, its been years since I had a book that was this tedious to read through. Description after description after description. Barely anything of note happens on several pages.
I know some authors like to put a lot of time on setting a scene/character… but this just feels like filler. Most details aren’t worth the time spend on it. Most don’t add anything to the characters or flesh them out.
It just doesn’t have a good flow to it. Illidan’s book, did a whole lot better on that department. I’ll battle through it but it’s going to take more time than the usual I guess.
Let’s hope they don’t throw more work at her, not a fan of her writing (ignoring the other stuff since I’ve said my piece on that as well).
Maybe not, but it sure would explain her bland boring writing. Politically correct overdrive and all that.
