Let me just start with the incorrect grammar structure of some of the sentences in your rant.
Three eclamation marks to end an sentence, used for emphasis or not, is an incorrect use of the punctuation marks.
Furthermore, “Thoughts?” is an unclear sentence body.
tl;dr: Not everyone speaks English perfectly. Europe has such an vast amount of languages that you cannot expect everyone to have an perfect grasp on grammar, not even for English. It is an minor issue and I suggest to just let it go.

That critique is reaching, I’m afraid. Three exclamation marks is ‘chat lingo’, and if we’re using the right linguistic approach, ‘Thoughts?’ is perfectly alright.
I see you missed every single other use of “an” in my little story. It shows how easy it is to just ignore it and move on.

No one appreciates a grammar goosestepper, give people advice but getting high and mighty about it or it ruining your day is pretty smooth brain.

There’s a difference when you say it, “I think XYZ, thoughts?” makes sense when you hear it/ see it.
But “I need an drink.” sounds awkward when you say it, even if you can understand it when reading it.
I’ve asked plenty of people about this and no one has disagreed. The only people who have tried to disagree have done so by not directly answering my question (like the first response in this thread, it contributes nothing). I know my English isn’t perfect, and I’m not saying it is. I wasn’t trying to start a war… all I was trying to do was ask a question. That question again was, “why has this spelling/ grammar mistake become such a trend now?”
That’s all I was saying, that’s all I was asking. Jeez, get off your high horse.
Getting het up about the grammar and use of the language by other players is an exercise in futility, it is true. In regards to your tone, OP, you do preface it with the thread topic ‘Annoying trends’ (not that it particularly bothers me personally).

Yeah, only rant about grammar if you’re in good company. No one likes the stranger who rags on them out of nowhere. Instead, bring it up jokingly whenever a guild member or something makes the mistake.
The last thing you want to do is be alienated for being that guy who can’t stop saying “IT’S EITHER ‘HENCE’ OR ‘WHICH IS WHY,’ YOU INGRATES, NEVER ‘HENCE WHY.’”
I’m just here to abuse Aerilen and Nordic roleplayers.

Hence why but theretofore did an two man follow the rad.
And now somebody is having an aneurysm.
I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn’t take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It’s clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother’s mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

I think you’re right. Perhaps not nearly always. But very often.
I’ll make a guess why:
Many Scandinavians (not all but many) are quite fluent in English, given that it’s not their first language. This is probably because Scandinavians study English from an early age - as well as the fact that TVshows, movies and music often are in English in Scandinavia.
This in turn provides the Scandinavians with a fairly good vocabulary. But not necessarily an understanding of when to use what word of two or more that are basically the same - yet have a subtle difference, depending on, say, context.
In these situations Scandinavians (and others who do this) probably unconciously rely on what would “sound” right in their native language.
At least that’s what I guess.

I was laughing so hard I cried when reading that.
It could be worse, you know? We could be in “would” territory.

While it’s kinda funny to note that English people don’t speak proper English I would note this is might be common with other Languages/Cultures.
Anecdotal but while I was living in Hong Kong where most of the Cantonese speakers there were quite loud when normally talking. One of my parents did a business trip up in the mainland and spoke with a mainlander who used a softly spoken dialect.
When asked what the difference was between his Chinese and the loud spoken Chinese down south apparently the Cantonese language was regarded as the peasant language and improper while the other was properly spoken.
There’s a saying I once heard in HK regarding the difference - It’s like chicken talking to duck.
To answer OP though it sounds like they’re trying to put on a accent or at least that’s what I’m guessing from it’s frequent use.
Tehya would blink as they read your post.
