Another anti-magic shell sucks post

Quite simple death knights, they won’t get the message unless you keep reminding them that it cannot even soak 2 casters let alone 3, and meanwhile you have a rogue, a NON-TANK “GLASS” class shrugging off 20 casters without a scratch.

In pve it’s fantastic, got an awesome mother kill when the whole group was dead thanks to ams.
Pvp is a whole different story though.

They should reduce the cd to 40 sec OR double the absorption amount OR make it a percentage magic damage reduction maybe 60%.
As well as rewarding more RP in all cases.
Its really useless now unless your opponent doesn’t have any cds on.

They should make it reflect all spells in addition to absorbing damage. If you are able to absorb 2-3 frostbolts then mage should take them in the face~

FIrst and Foremost: Let it give us the same RP as it did before. 100% of the damage absorbed = 100 RP.

And for such a short duration…it’s such a “Meh” ability, especially since it doesn’t remove anything and is just a absorb, compared to CoS.

Touch of karma is the main balance issue here, not only are monks significantly more mobile but they are also able to absorb half their entire healthbar in damage while simultaniously reflecting all of that damage back onto the enemy.

This ability alone makes AMS not only look like a joke because of it only doing magic DMG but also absorbing significantly less and having almost no reprecussion for the enemy in just blowing it out.

It really raises serious questions as to who is even looking at the game balance right now.

And remember a talent adds an additional 50% to that…

It’s still not weak tho, let’s consider a “worst case” you get killed scenario
The shield is roughly 30,7% of your max HP, which makes your EHP 130,7% against magic attacks during its’ uptime

Let’s say that you still die to magic damage after having popped it:
If you are at 150k hp, you would need to take 196k total damage, which results in AMS having been a 24% DR.
If you don’t die to the damage during the uptime period, AMS is much more efficient than that - it blocks straight up damage which really shows on paper. Taking 100k damage would instead have made it block 46% of that damage, meaning that you only took 54k effectively.
Added on top of this, it also blocks any debuffs from being applied, which can dodge boss mechanics and prevent CC chaining in PvP if the opponents are sloppy.

To compare IBF and AMS; IBF brings your EHP to 214k if your base HP is 150k for 8 seconds on a 3minute cooldown
AMS brings your magic EHP to 196k if your base HP is 150k for 5 seconds on a 1min cooldown, and additionally blocks any debuffs from being applied.

Now i’m pretty sure you can tell from seeing this that AMS is a decent spell, whereas IBF is trash.
There’s also a few specs in this game with absolutely bonkers cooldowns that shouldn’t exist.

That may seem good to the untrained eye but we have discipline priests doing that every global for all damage rather than on a 1 minute cooldown for only magic.

You really need to put things into context intead of just quoting numbers.

oh and just to kick the dk while they are down, the priest bubble lasts like 3x longer.

Absolutely not , Yes IBF on 3 min cd is not very good but still it’s very much effective.
On the other hand , AMS (in pvp) against bursty classes (Ret,boomkin,Fmage,…) is literally useless , It goes down in 1 global and they continue pushing you , I don’t even think they count it as a def cd that they’ll have to bait first and they are completely true , and don’t get me started on the trash that is RP generated from it.
The only good part about AMS is the debuff avoidance but i don’t think that’s enough for our most iconic def cd.
