It’s not only the game, it’s TOTAL on entire system.
whilst you might be correct. This does not explain why turning off the sound helps the massive stuttering.
Same here, disabling sound causes the stuttering to be completely resolved.
Also getting lag on character load in. Edit: I mean character select screen

Logged a ticket with blizzard so they have dxdiag and msinfo to pass on.
Hope Blizzard fix this. All make sure to report it to Blizzard and not just here. The thread on the us forums is huge. So hope this gets attention. Still there are some moron trolls runting about that its our computers that are the issue. I have tried everything, i have worked as a technician all my life and I have spent 10 hours + to fix this before realizing that its a issue with WoW. ALL my other games run great and still morons say that its my system that is the problem. This frustrates the hell out of me. People are so stupid sometimes.
The problem is, all kinds of people post their issues there, even things that are not related to the stuttering in any way.
I’d think thatthe issue being fixed or alleviated when sound is off, is the issue Blizzard needs to address.
Only talking about the stutter, not lag.
Other things should get their own thread or is most likely an issue with the PC itself.
True and I dont think Blizzard will do something until enough people have submitted the issue via a ticket directly to Blizzard. I doubt they will read through theese forum threads.
Agreed! I’ve logged a ticket at least. They sent me an automated reply, opened a web ticket just to report the issue.
Sent them dxdiag and msinfo, probably the issue only manifests itself under specific circumstances.
Same, I bought a new PC around classic wow, and for the record I stutter in Dalaran only in that game. And I stutter horribly when dragonriding and veldrakken, aswell as very low FPS even in dungeons and some stutters in dungeons but atleast playable.
Anyway, I plugged my old PC back in that I have played wow on since 2015 and same stuttering was present
Guys my fps was goin to 2-10 when i was change zones / location . I just see that my wow folder is on ssd disc and launcher on hdd . I put battle net launcher on ssd aswell and its help game start working no fps drops and freez. Check it guys .
The suttering issue being fixed by turning off sound should be a really easy thing for Blizzard to fix. Its such an easy thing to pinpoint.
When I try to submit a ticket I just get an error telling me I cant submit the ticket. This is fantastic.
Bugs aren’t reported by ticket. The GM team can’t fix, prioritize, or do anything about bugs. You need to send the information to the DEVELOPERS.
You can do this by filling out a BUG REPORT, not a Ticket. From the first “support screen” in game, click the TOP MIDDLE button that says “Submit feedback or bug report”, then follow the onscreen instructions.
That is what I did. It sends me to a page where I can attach msinfo and dxdiags. Ive done all this. When I click submit I get a text saying something along the lines of “cant submit this blablabal right now, please try again later”.
Gonna be bumping this sometimes so it stays visible… Here’s hoping Blizzard is at least looking at it.
Even worse stuttering today with all the people around.
I also remain very curious as to what is causing these stutters and I’m wondering if there are ongoing investigations regarding this matter.
Could it be that it doesn’t impact a large portion of the playerbase? Is there a ‘silent majority’ not minding the stutters?
I think many just don’t notice it as much, but there’s no doubt most do have stutters and pop-ins.
After having logged a ticket, this is the reply I got:
Hey there,
Thank you for bearing with us while we investigated this problem for you. Tech Specialist Logan, here. Looks like the initial response didn’t help you out, so sorry about that. To try to get to more complex issues like this more quickly, we have some basic steps sending automatically to players based on the queue that they submit their tickets in. Now that I’ve got your ticket, let’s give it a look.
I appreciate you reaching out to let us know about the work around you’ve noticed. We’ve actually seen a ton of similar work arounds in the thread you linked, and the devs are working with graphics card manufacturers and Microsoft to try to figure out why this is happening for players. Since it’s a fix that requires the input of multiple different companies, it can take some time for a permanent fix, but we appreciate you bearing with us while they work on it.
Beyond that, we don’t work directly with the devs so can’t forward this information, but you can definitely add to a thread about this issue or use the bug report tool. Either of these can be helpful for getting info to our quality assurance team and devs.
I sincerely hope that this experience with Blizzard Entertainment has been informative, if not helpful. If you need help with anything else, please feel free to reach out and let us know.
Ye disabling sound fix my stuttering too…
Thanks for taking the time to make a ticket. I managed to get mine sent too. Hopefully we can get this resolved.
What I find funny is that weakauras and bigwigs, or generally any other addon that plays sound through the master channel even tho sound is disabled ingame do not cause this issue. It is specifically sound coming from the game. Addon sound does not cause this. Interesting.
