That’s interesting, yet very helpful for M+ (DBM/BigWigs & Weakauras)
No worries, we gotta bring it to their attention somehow. It’s annoying as heck that we can’t post in the US forums.
So in other words, no one at Blizzard has the ability and/or inclination to analyse, debug and optimise their crappy code and so they’ll shift the blame elsewhere and hope we accept this new low standard. Got it.
Had this stuttering issue since start of prepatch…found this forum today, turned off my ingame sound completely…stuttering gone…so now blizzard knows where to start, so get at it…or is this the new standard for blizzard? There’s been no response to this issue on EU at all, once on NA forums…despite the post on NA having more views and replies than any blue sticky.
I just wonder what Blizz will do about all the systems I’ve tested that still have stutters with sound off.
Did u test turning off sound then relogging? Turning off sound fixes 90% of the stutter for me but not all
I’ve tested everything imaginable on fresh prebuild PCs at work and the stutter won’t go away.
I’m terribly frustrated of how this game runs… It’s old as hell, and yet still can’t be optimized normally. From the patch of Season 1, everything seems to become even worse, especially when so many people rush in online. Everything is so bad in the evenings, I can only enjoy my game with minimum lags, freezes and stutters at like 7am - 12pm, when is the least people are online.
Valdrakken is a show of lags, stutters and freezes… Every time I get back there to turn in my quest, I just pray to get out of there as soon as possible. I have never had such terrible lag in cities before pre-patch. I can’t enjoy the flying on my dragon, I miss rare spawns because this idiotic game struggles to load 1 enemy and 1 hunter with 2 dogs lol. The rare is killed before I hit it.
I have no idea what Blizzard is doing when there are almost 60k views on the same topic in US thread, and it keeps being updated daily with people who let everyone know that it becomes worse.
I’m even more amazed that many people with this issue had to turn off the sound in the game. And so I had too. I’m not a player who plays the game without a sound, and I’m disgusted that the billion $ company with so many workers in it can’t do anything for months and doesn’t seem to do since there are 0 updates. Why do we have to turn off the sound, make graphics worse and make our experience even worse? Jesus. My bootie is boorning.
Today whilst in a dungeon I turned on sound just to test. I get no stutter when just running around in the dungeon since there arent any new players being loaded and whatnot. But I noticed that I get a short stutter/Lag spike/freeze whenever I drop/leave combat. Not upon entering combat mind you. Just when leaving combat. Turning sound off again fixes this. Thats interesting. Something is very wrong with how the game loads sounds or something. I’m running sound through the updated default microsoft driver on the latest windows update. Funny how this is even a thing. Smh
I would be greatful if someone with a level 10 character on NA realms would crosspost this thread by linking to it over on the NA forums. Couldn’t hurt.
This stuttering issue makes me sad…yesterday I decided to play anyways and try to ignore the stuttering but I cant. Its not enjoyable to play…I have submitted both a bug report and made a ticket regarding this. What is your take on why not everyone seem to have the issue? Are ppl not noticing it?
Fix your game please blizzard.
When it comes to general performance WoW has always ran somewhat poorly. If you look at the race to world first going on right now you’ll see a lot of the players are dropping below 30 fps during combat. Depending on which player you are spectating of course. Some of their UI’s do not show the current framerate but some do. A lot of people are just used to WoW being that way. Some of it is WoW being an old game that is poorly optimized to utilize modern hardware fully and correctly. Some of it is just poorly coded weakauras and addons ruining peoples performance. As for the stuttering we are experiencing… Well, some people probably live with it for sure. But there is probably something else going on here aswell. I do not think everyone has it tho.
One thing is for sure. It is game related, it started occuring after the pre-patch and it is somehow related to the ingame sound. Other than that we have not yet found any hardware that links us all together. I’ve seen people with this issue on systems all over the spectrum. I am seeing the issue on two completely different PC’s. Windows 10 being the only thing that is the same on both systems. Having said that I’ve also seen people running windows 11 talking about this aswell. I’m currently typing this on a PC that has Realtek onboard audio running the default OS installed driver that works perfectly for everything else. I prefer to run the most updated driver that the OS installs on its own since from my experience it leaves you with the lowest overall driver overhead and thus the lowest possible DPC latency when running onboard audio. The other PC does not have Realtek onboard audio but still suffers from this so I dont know what else to try and do here.
I’m currently on the older PC with the GTX1080Ti in it. The motherboard that is providing the audio is this one if someone is interested.
(I’d also like to say that its not longer 2005 and that onboard audio is fine these days. The other newer and more expensive rig has a dedicated soundcard and still suffers from these stutters)
It would be kinda cool to get a Blizzard person in this thread actually responding with any form of useful information regarding literally anything close to this. Of course I mean like an actual person typing actual words. These half automated responses are beyond useless.
My 2060 doesn’t have this issue.
I don’t have it at all, oddly.
Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, no overclock. Nvidia RTX 2060, nothing special(no Ti, no Super, just old school first run 2060).
I am not using the latest driver for my GPU. I’m a version behind and am now afraid of updating it, just in case.
What I don’t understand is how this affecting some people but not all.
I cant even understand how this is possible, people trying on several different rigs and setups and everything and still get the issue and then some people dont have it at all.
amazing
It’s maybe related to a Windows setting or something?
I disabled on board sound in Bios since my Arctis handles it directly = still stutter.
I rolled back a couple drivers to see if that would make a difference, nothing.
Disabling HPET doesn’t make a difference.
I dont think its settings either. As a part of my troubleshooting I reinstalled my computer from scratch and installed WoW and tested with nothing else installed or changed and the stutter was still there.
I have also tested on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 and still stutter.
Atm with sound i cant do a single mythic+
Playing with no sound…. Cmon man…
Netx payment im gone cancel until fix
Same, forgot to mention that. I also did that, even formatted ALL my drives (except my one HDD where things like installers, movies, music etc are stored) to make sure nothing stayed behind.
Except same thing.
What I do notice is that upon login, the first minute or so is completely stutter free, or where there are no other players.
So it’s definitely something to do with players being loaded in.
Add me to the list.
I also have stuttering such that it is unplayable on higher graphic settings when many players gather. On the lowest settings it works fine, but worse than it should. Turning off sound and restarting WoW did not help.
The problems started on 15th December. Before, everything was perfectly smooth on high graphic settings. Sadly, the update on 14th December, the latest Windows update and the latest Nvidia driver update were in between running good and bad.
My RAM utilization is at ~90% always. When I run into heavy stuttering, it stays at this performance. My HDD utilization jumps to 100% in these moments. I find this weird, because WoW is on my SSD and this one is on just 1% always. As suggested somewhere above, swapping the Launcher from HDD to SSD did not help.
Another weird thing. GeForce Experience does not recognize WoW any more.
I find it hard to isolate any potential cause here. But it probably is not my system, because it ran until the 15th.
I have 8 GB RAM, a 970 and i5-4690.
I got this stuttering issue after a mini-update on 2th December! Before my game would run perfectly smooth at 5-level-graphics even in a crowded Stormwind. It feels like this issue pops up for each player on certain dates. Just like a deadly roulette.
Got stutering issues now myself. Exact same as most people describe in this thread.
