Personally I love Torghast, but i can understand why most people dislike it.
Literally all you need to do is increase the rewards of Torghast. Simple tweaks here and there is all you need.
Add a small chance to get some fun items from the rares/puzzles. Mounts, cosmetics, fun items like falling meteor, gold bags etc.
Add more rewards/floors to twisting corridors. Cosmetic sets, mounts, more pets.
4 one-time rewards from 8 layers of TC is just too little. After 6 hours of duo TC runs from layer 5~8 I will never touch that content again until there’s an actual reward that I need.
They could have done a meta achievement - TC layer 1 on all classes (with 3,6,9 increments) TC layer 4, 6 and 8. Throw in pets, mounts, toys, nice tmog. Give people a (totally optional) reason to go back. Wouldn’t take much imagination to make it a bit more interesting.
Right now do TC8 on one character and it is totally pointless on others (other than zerg TC1 floor 1-6 3 times for the quest - if you want to )
They literally just have to add some pets/trasmo/mount to be dropped randomly by mobs or by completing wings. Plus it would not hurt to make it drop a small amount of valor to be used to buy/upgrade gear in next patch.
Or a vendor - mobs has a chance to drop ‘echos of torghast’. There is a vendor selling all sorts of stuff ranging from a few runs worth to super tryhard mounts costing many, many runs worth. Naturally the higher the TC the more they drop.
Also there should be achievements - do TC8 with less than # -powers, do TC8 in < time, do TC8 without dying etc. nothing ground breaking but would make it a bit more interesting for those that like achievements, farming. But ALL totally OPTIONAL.
I honestly didn’t even care about the other rewards from TC, it was just the mount that got me to do it. The Maw is the worst area they’ve introduced. Having the mount cuts down the amount of time I have to spend there. That was enough of an incentive for me.
Or - as written in a different thread - make at least Soul Ash farmable through TC; they are already just 3x a normal torghast wing (max layer); why not drop the reward from there with a little extra for higher TC layers?
Do you know what I loved about Island Expeditions. And what kept me going back and doing them all through out the expansion.
The drops. The Mounts, The Pets the Transmogs. I collected all the Mounts and all the pets. I got the awesome Duskhaven Top Hat and good collection of nice Transmogs. Sure the Mogs mostly recolours and far too rare of a drop rate. And then I could spend the Dubloons on cool upgrades to make the islands go faster and later on spend them on Crates and an awesome Albatros mount (one of my favourites from the expansion).
That is what made me go and do 3 islands weekly on all of my active Characters (usually 3 or 4 at a time).
Now, I respect Blizzard had other plans for Torghast and wanted it to be a key part of the game. Unfortunately, it was a failure. It could be salvable. But because it flopped so hard at the start so many players are put off ever going there again.
Right now, I’d rather Blizz just put a few cosmetic rewards into Torghast (updated every now and again), and just focussed their energies into making the rest of the game more playable.
And some Venari Rep (maybe through a daily / weekly quest).
The Maw is just too frustrating for me, I can’t tolerate it long enough to do a daily there, so I have no rep with Venari. The problem is that Venari has buffs for Torghast, so why not allow us to earn the Torghast buffs by doing Torghast?
With Soul Ash, Stygia and Anima I think we have enough currencies. One of these could easily be used for additional cosmetics - I think Soul Ash is probably the one I’d use. Once you’ve done your Legendary you don’t need it anymore.
Personally I’d have merged Soul Ash and Stygia from the start. One currency but with a couple of ways to earn it - either Maw content or Torghast content. There have been too many ultra-specific currencies in the game in the last few expansions. This limits choice of how we play and how we get rewarded for our efforts.
