Anti-Auction House-camping concept

After the rework of the Auction House, camping has still remained a problem for casual, semi-hardcore and hardcore players allike. The rich become richer, as they spend the time on the auction house rather than playing the game, like most people do, resulting in an imbalanced economy.

To mitigate camping, instead of making auctions sales to be based on the time of the posting, let it be based on:

  • Amount of gold made by the account within a certain time interval.

This means normalizing the amount of gold which can be aquired by a single player through the auction house on a single item, and increasing item diversity of the market due to the nature of players wanting to earn gold.

It will encourage the average player to use the auction house more often and with less frustration than most players. It will also encourage more use of the trade channel, for those wishing to sell more than they do through the auction house. Multiboxing would be a natural countermeasure for those wishing to sell more than their account, but would involve investing real money into game licenses and game time (which is beneficial to blizzard anyway).

Taxes are the answer. It’s working well in SWTOR.

Not if I take all my money off planet to draenor.

Absolutely, would also be a solution to mitigate inflation. It would still remain a problem to some degree, but less so for sure, as players would still be camping the auction house to the frustration of the average player.

They already made crafting stuff to AH a gold sink.

They’d still be rich and the poor poor…

If you want to eliminate camping and constant undercuts there’s better, proven ways to do that. No need to reinvent the wheel (in this case a cubic one).

Buy orders would allow everyone to automatically buy items when their price drops to a certain amount. Let people adjust the price of items they listed (for a fee. the smaller the change the bigger the fee), and add a bigger cost to listing items based on a percentage of the total price.
This will reduce undercutting and eliminate the advantage of bots sniping good deals (as well as scam attempts by listing cheap items).
At this point they can prevent addons from listing items and the only thing that determines how much money you make is your brains and knowledge about the market. Not whether you can camp it 24/7 and not what addons you have.

Will we get tax haven realms then?

Hi, Eredarling.

If it is an equal tax for all, then why not? Let’s say 100k per month tax. Everything we are offering, we are offering it for balancing economy, you know. Equal taxes for equal breaths. Like the Communist Party of China. Good.

But if you can’t pay your tax, all of your characters will be imprisoned in Stockade until you pay for living taxes in Azeroth with tokens, deal?

Pay for your freedom! NOW!

That would only affect the list priority within a given price stack. Goblins can still undercut thus gain a more favourable position with their items.

The number of nonsense opinions that have been put forward on this forum without sufficient knowledge, skill and experience is astounding.

Undercut by 1 copper. Next thread with new idea lol.

I wouldn’t mind a FLAT tax which is fair. It’s not real life to have progressive taxation so only a flat one would make sense. However if its like 100k as suggested and you dont have gold to pay it, how would you react if blizzard FORCED you to buy a token in order to deduct that amount so you can play? Honestly i wouldn’t mind that fix amount per account as i have around 17mil liquid right now.

I honestly don’t see how I’m affected if someone else’s main game play is making gold on the AH.

I never try to make gold. I never really have any. I resent anything that introduces me losing more gold that I don’t have. So I’m not in favour of any taxing. We pay enough in repairs, transmog fees, keeping up in consumables etc.

If your goal is just to enjoy the game playing it the normal way with normal sub then usually you dont give an * how much gold player A, B or C has.

If your goal is not to enjoy the game but to farm enough gold every month to buy a token to not pay sub in order to play the game then you dislike bots, region ah, low prices, ah cancelscan, addons etc :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the entire point. For some people this IS the core gameplay. Not because of tokens, buying another games and stuff freely or something, it’s just the drive of getting more wealth itself. There are dozens of channels, youtubers, resources, addons and subreddits dedicated to goldmaking. And goldmaking can be very different: some people farm and craft, some sell services, some people snipe and some flip and control the market. For the last two – is it sometimes cynical? Yeah, probably. Is it on the edge of the scam? Possibly. Is it against ToS? Nope, as long as these addons are allowed by Blizzard themselves.

You don’t like it? Then don’t fall in this trap and be more cautious with you lots. That’s it, basically. There always will be fools and inattentive players, and there always will be another people who will abuse it. AH is just the tool.

This is how they did it:

https://forums.swtor.com/topic/927608-credit-economy-initiative-beginning-with-721/

Whats the actual problem here?

People that soend a lot of time on the ah make more gold? Well, duuuh.

‘Enourage people who don’t normally use the ah to use it’. Why? It detracts from how i currently play the game and i dont see the benefit.

Its a pointless thread that amounts to you not liking that some people are goblins and spend their time on the ah. Get over it.

First paragraph of what you linked:
“will be introducing initiatives to combat the inflation that is present in the game”

WoW DOES not have an inflation issue. There are many threads made by people with no clue about economics. Ill write it again:

WOW HAS DEFLATION. Your nominal income can buy more goods than 6 months ago.

Example: 1 million gold July 2023 can buy 7 times more phials than it could December 2022.

There-is-no-need-for-Tax.

How can a flat TAX increase your gold per hour income? This is your issue. Only way is to reduce SUPPLY and icrease DEMAND. Problem is there are more people interested EARNING gold than SPENDING gold.

Edit: random examples that can help: Only one can loot herbs and veins. Only one can skin. Only one can loot nonquest items from mobs etc etc. Reduce supply to keep prices up and gold per hour up.

was it really neccessary to post this kind of video? some of us might be personally insulted.

Don’t think you can dictate how others play the game?
