I noticed that view distance and environmental detail are the ones that hammer CPU performance the most in Valdrakken, and even with a 5800x3D I’m dropping to 60s and sometimes below while flying through the city which is a huge drop from the 140 I’m otherwise locked to in the rest of the world.
I’m wondering if any up do date addons can change only specific settings you select in order to maintain the desired fps, and then bring them back up afterward. I found one called Dynamic Performance which does exactly that but it hasn’t been updated since 2016, you can’t tweak exactly what you want it to change and the changes don’t seem to happen quick enough to avoid the drops.
I figured it changes all settings but I was trying to avoid that because nearly all of them only affect the GPU, so it would just make the game unnecessarily ugly as GPU is never maxed out anyhow.
I’ll give it a try just to be sure but it’s tough to check what settings are being altered.
That may not be a bad idea to have it on toggle so I can use change it manually in Valdrakken. I was hoping to set it automatically but this may be the next best thing.
