I would like to make a twink to explore old content (but mostly Pandaria) at my own pace. I have several questions to which I couldn’t find any clear answer:
That’s a vague question, but in your opinion, what is the optimal level in order to have the best overall experience?
When it comes to PvP, what are the brackets? If I twink at level 50, will I be matched against players from 50 to 59? Am I better off twinking at level 49, at the cost of losing covenant abilities?
Will I be forced out of Chromie time as soon as I reach level 50, or will I be able to remain in it and have mobs scaled up to 50? And will I be able to swap expansion at will after reaching this level?
Will I be able to solo Pandaria raids while still being in Chromie time? In others words, will the raids be level 30 while the outside world is scaled up to my level?
If I wish my twink to still be useable should I discontinue my subscription, what is the best level? 10? 19? 20?
if you twink at 50 you will indeed be matched with 59 people. 49 would be the better bracket to twink at if you dont want to be in the bracket with covidnant powers
For the other part, the best twinking bracket depends on what you like. In lower brackets some twink classes do way better than others while some classes shine more at higher brackets. But low level twinking brackets are the easiest to reach and to change to another character in case your class got ruined by some nerf
But i’m not really up to date on twinking anymore myself. The introduction of heirlooms killed twinking. Now heirlooms have been nerfed i havent bothered with twinking yet
It’s not super important - if you want to access chromie time or lvl 49 epic bgs you can make a level 20 trial account and it will sync up if you join both character to same party.
Epic bg
20-49
50-59
60
BG
10-19
20-29
30-39
etc until cap
Any player with covenant abilities can sync down into any of this content with that specific ability intact, class spellbook abilities require specific levels tho (so you are at advantage closer to bracket cap you are).
Yes but you may still que into the dungeons or chromie layers if you use a trial account + party sync as mentioned.
You can jump in and out of chromie time at your leisure simply by speaking to Chromie, if you could solo before you can still if you just return to time to do so.
Depends what content you want to do. I personally stick to 20 but I do not play regular bgs, just epic or dungeon, darkmoon faire sometimes too ;]
I suggest having second account, if you link them correctly you can summon the alt to you each 30 minutes, give yourself buffs, que for certain content, some really useful stuff.
Don’t you get stuck in seperate pvp brackets if you pause exp for twinking? :o
I haven’t done it myself in so many years now but I remember it practically killed the point of pvp twinking since there was so few players in those brackets.
i thought exp eliminated people have their own bgs with only other exp eliminated people iirc but could be wrong.
edit:
yeah seems they have their own brackets.
so if you choose to eliminate your exp for battlegrounds it might be that you experience longer queues and such. so this might or might not be a terrible idea depending on how long the queues are, i have no idea about it since i dont twink pvp though.
The best way to Twink currently is PvE 49 without going in Shadowlands quest, this way you have access to most of class talents and abilities, access to Chromie time and thus ability to experience each zone as if it’s current content difficulty.
More so you can invite your friends on their mains and use party sync so for them all the mobs will also scale so you can have epic battles with rares from say Timeless Isle or Tanaan jungle.
If you go on any Shadowlands quests - Chromie Time becomes unaavalible even if you’r below lvl 50. So you have to abandon entry quest to change timeline.
Thank you so much for all your answers! I think I’ll go 49 then.
You can start Shadowlands questline before level 50? After some research it would seem that the minimum level to recieve the intro quest is 48, if that is so I might actually stop at 47 instead. Can you confirm that?
When you have this quest in your quest logs you can’t change timeline but if you already in Chromy Time you stay there.
You can abandon the quest and change timeline quest will reappear 30 secs later so you have to be quick.
If you start doing the quest (teleport to Icecrown you aurtomatically booted from Chrome Time without warning (you still can abandon quest at this point and return to Chromie to go back).
If you completed any Shadowlands ralted quests you can’t use Chromy Time ever again.
47, 48, 49 - depends on class (may be you want specific class ability from certain level) and gear you want to use (for example Azerite Armor from dungeons usable only at level 48+). If you plan to use HoA you’ll need a friend to help you out with it.
