Been playing some FFXIV lately and I noticed they had an item that you could glamour (transmog) onto your shield that would make it invisible, and thus you could run around with only your 1h-sword on the paladin class.
I think this was a really cool idea and figured I might ask if this is something that would be possible in WoW too, would be really neat to have as it would also fit some people’s fantasy of being only a single sword wielding character considering there’s no such thing in WoW right now.

As it stands I already don’t know if the tank has the right weapons equipped, having to inspect on top of that would be tiresome
Interresting idea! I just feel like it would feel wierd having one sheild invicable while still having it equipped. How would combat animations look then?

I hate shields almost as much as guns. Allowing warrior/paladin to tank with single 1h weapon would be awesome but also its hard to imagine.
Maybe at least they will one day allow rogue and frost dk to hide one of their two weapons 
That could actually be pretty neat, but I am still worried about how combat animations would look then.
I would suppose: exactly the same as when you have your shield equiped, except this time is only your arm there.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t shield animations look exactly the same, no matter what size you have equipped ?

How can tanks without shields?
I would rather transmog my two hander into sword and shield, or better yet, two hander and shield.
But shields are used for some ability animations. It would look a bit weird to shield bash without a shield
I think this would be comical. Blocking without a shield. Just using your arm

To be fair, some of the plate sets are so damn bulky that your forearm is plated enough to be a shield all on its own…

Why not let people hide any weapon? That way the Worgen Fury Warriors who want to fight with their claws will be able to.

Thats why I always wanted worgen monk. Thats why I had Combat Rogue till Blizzard destroyed it and made some pirate joke 
I actually like the Pirate theme. :
But I understand why people dislike it, and I have no issues having them to back to the old.
In FFXIV you just do the same animations but with your arm, and it still looks pretty natural there.
Also for the people saying it would be funny or weird without a shield:
Brewmaster, bear tanks, demon hunters, blood DKs.
None of these have shields or anything that looks like it, so it’s not like an invisible shield would be any weirder compared to what we already have.
It’s already pretty weird that any of these four can stop an attack from a huge raid boss.
