Any good BUFF/DEBUFF add-ons, please?

Dear all,
I have gone back and forth with the UI and I (think) have settled with the standard UI with Threat Plate and an add-on for cleaning up the bags.
However, I would REALLY like to have some sort of better way to show up my buffs and debuffs, to keep them well in sight.

At the moment my buffs/debuffs are set way up on the right-hand-side, near the minimap: way too difficult to spot and keep an eye on.

Any suggestion guys?

What buffs are you looking to track? I’d suggest looking into weak auras (which might seem confusing at first, but it really isn’t), since it’s the best way to display important information on your screen such as buffs/procs etc.

If you’re just looking for something that’ll display everything, then yes, weak auras can do that as well, although I would advise against cluttering your screen with non-important status buffs that last for an hour or so, since it limits your visibility and isn’t something you’ll need to check frequently for. So to better understand your request, could you give us examples of the types of buffs you wish to display?

For example, my Rogue has an active spell: Evasion. I would like to keep a closer look to when it fades. At the moment, I have a small indicator at the top right, near the map (the standard position); is there any other way to move those buffs in a more central position? or near my name plate?

Thanks!

Okay, weak auras 2 is definitely what you’re looking for. Install it, and I’ll give you a quick guide on how to use it here:

So weak auras 2 basically allows you to use weak auras that other people have made, which are essentially things that pop on your screen that help you track buffs/procs/abilities etc, you can do way more with them than you’d think, and I’m not going to explain every single possibility, but an Evasion weak aura would be a every basic one.

So to start out with, if you want a weak aura, you can either make them yourself or look for one on the internet. For a simple weak aura like that, it’s sometimes easier to do yourself, but assuming you’re not interested in that (and it would take a little bit more explaining as well) then your other option is to use someone else’s. Easiest place to look for these weak auras is simply just to google for them, for example “evasion weak aura” would probably give you something you want.

There’s also a site called wago.iowhich basically has a ton of weak auras stored in it. After searching for “evasion” I found a bunch of rogue utility weak aura packages that include more than just evasion (you can choose what you’ll use by disabling the ones you don’t need, and you can also customize the evasion one as you’d like). To use a weak aura package or just a weak aura, click on one of them on wago.io and there should be text saying “Copy weakaura import string” on the top-right. Click on that, and it basically copies the import string to your clipboard.

Next, go in-game, and type /wa in your chatbox, and you should have a menu pop open. On the menu, the lowest button is called “import”. Click that, and copy and paste the import string in there with ctrl+v. Next, there should be a new window popping up with basically says “import group” (or just import). Click that, and it should install the weak auras for you.

A bunch of buttons should appear on your screen after that. Now it’s up to you to disable/customize them. I’m not going to go too in-depth with that, but it’s not hard even though it might seem a little confusing at first. You could watch a weak aura tutorial video on youtube as well, and I’m sure they’d explain it better than I can. Just remember, UI addons such as these are always a little bit of a hassle to get into, and this is one of the most important addons in my opinion so learning how to use it even on a basic level is going to get you very far.

If you have more questions just feel free to ask. And if you’re looking for a less hassly-way of doing things, then I unfortunately cannot provide one. This is the best method of accomplishing something that you’re going for.
